Later this year, the development team behind recent hit titles Borderlands and Bioshock release what they hope will be a military shooter to exceed the achievements of Modern Warfare 2. Only time will tell if it can do so, but Spec Ops: The Line is looking great so far.

The genre of open world action games truly begun with the release of Grand Theft Auto 3, and since then titles within it have followed a similar style. Just Cause 2 however attempts to break the mould with a completely different style of gameplay but remaining well and truly in the same genre - this is potentially something very special indeed.

Combat on a large scale, using powerful mechanical machines and robot-like beings is hardly a new concept to the videogames market - but Supreme Commander 2 appears to introduce enough twists on the standard gameplay style of such games to make it worth looking at in more detail.

For some, space may be the final frontier, but for those who will be playing Mass Effect 2 space is only the beginning.
In 2007 Bioware released an RPG of epic proportions to Microsoft’s Xbox 360, then to PCs in 2008, and on January 26th Mass Effect 2 will be the first of many great sequels coming this year.
