Super Mario Galaxy is a 3 dimensional game from Nintendo for the Wii. This game is the third installment of 3-D Mario games. Its predecessors are Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. This Mario game follows suit with many of the other Mario games. Mario’s quest is to save Princess Peach from all-time enemy Bowser. To do this he must travel through space and conquer levels that take the form of galaxies and planetoids. In this new game you will see new effects like new power-ups and gravity effects. When it was first displayed in 2006, it captured much attention. Since then, Super Mario Galaxy has received outstanding reviews from the gaming press.
Super Mario Galaxy Cheats and Hints There are some interesting cheats already posted on the site for this game. Did you know there’s actually 121 Stars in the game and not 120? Want to unlock Luigi? Gameplay
Super Mario Galaxy takes us to outer space, where the greatest part of the game takes place. Mario must travel along a huge chain of planetoids and other things in space, although some levels like the Beach Bowl Galaxy and Honeyhive Galaxy consist of larger areas. Mario has great capabilities for collecting items and conquering enemies, for example he can launch from one planet to the next.
Every planet has a gravitational force that allows the player to move around it. Mario can walk sideways or even upside down. Mario can convert into Fire Mario, Ice Mario, Bee Mario, Boo Mario, Spring Mario, Flying Mario, and Rainbow Mario.
This version of 3-D Mario is not unlike many other versions. Like those other versions, Mario must collect stars. The stars are given when a task is completed or an enemy is beaten.
Super Mario Galaxy has a central area called the Comet Observatory. To paint a better picture, those who are familiar with Super Mario for the N64, the central area would be the castle. The Comet Observatory is divided into six different areas and is themed. The six worlds are the Terrace, Fountain, Kitchen, Bedroom, Engine Room, and Garden. Within these six areas or worlds there are a total of 42 galaxies or levels each containing 1 to 7 stars. The more stars a player gets, the more are unlocked in each galaxy. When the game is won with 120 stars, Luigi’s character is unlocked and he becomes a playable character. Luigi is able to jump higher than Mario; however he has less traction and has other downsides like he uses air when spinning underwater. There are a total of 121 stars in the game, but the 121st star can only be found after 120 stars have been collected with Mario and Luigi.
Mario is quite an acrobat and has the capabilities to jump in many ways. He hasn’t forgotten his triple jump and wall kick. He also has the ability to perform jumps that were not available in Super Mario Sunshine, like the long jump. Flipping is easier now, all Mario needs to do to flip is to turn and jump. Mario’s ground pound move also part of this game. He uses this move to break objects or to destroy enemies. Mario’s combat move is done by shaking the Wii-mote or Nunchuck. This move allows him to stun enemies, to break things, and accelerate while in water among many other things.
The motion sensing in the Wii- remote is used to navigate a manta ray and to balance. The pointer is used for things like directing wind, activating Pull Stars, and collecting and firing Star Bits. The power meter is Mario’s health meter; this has been the same in all of the 3-D Mario games. When power falls Mario can regain it by collecting coins. If power falls too quickly and it reaches zero, Mario loses one life. The power meter starts with three sections, this changes when the player collects a Super Mushroom. The power meter is then expanded to a total of six sections. Too bad for players, but this power-up trick is not permanent and will drop back to three. There is secondary health meter that is there to illustrate Mario’s air supply when he is swimming, when the air meter is empty, the power meter begins to drop.Bottomless pits that have been seen in other Mario games are replaced with black holes. Black holes are placed throughout space and beneath the surfaces of some planets.

Game Mechanics
Gravity Arrows will gravitate Mario into the direction that the arrows are pointing. Collecting Star Bits is simple and rewarding. To collect the Bits, the player must use the cursor to hover over and grab them. For every 50 Bits, Mario gets an additional life. This is like how the collection of 100 coins would result in a new life. Mario can use the Star Bits to stun enemies or collect coins than are only collectible when struck with Star Bits. The Star Bits serve yet another purpose of feeding hungry Lumas that will eventually form a new planet or galaxy that will contain additional stars.
Most of Super Mario Galaxy is 3-Dimensional, but there are a few exceptions. In a few places there is some 2-Dimensional play where Mario is restricted to a 2-Dimensional plane.
The Prankster Comets appear throughout the game at different points. There are five different kinds, which are The Speedy, Daredevil, Cosmic, Fast-Foe, and Purple comets. When one of these little guys comes into contact with a level then a special challenge is created that will lead to a Power Star.
Currently, Super Mario Galaxy contains the most power-ups and transformations of all 3-Dimensional Mario games. In this game Mario can change into a bee or a boo with mushrooms. The boo mushroom allows for capabilities of invisibility and transporting through solid objects. Fire flowers work the same as in the past 2-Dimensional Mario games. Ice flowers allow Mario to freeze water and walk on it.

Multiplayer Mode
Co-Star Mode is the two-player option for Super Mario Galaxy. In this mode one player will control Mario and a star pointer, while the other player controls another pointer to collect Star Bits and shoot them at enemies. The second player is unrestricted in shooting stars. Co-Star Mode is easier because of these and other reasons, such as the second player can halt the movement of objects and of Mario.
Plot
Mario receives an invitation from princess peach to attend a party in the Mushroom Kingdom. When Mario is on his way to the party he spots Bowser and a fleet of ships he is leading. Bowser encourages the destruction and taking of Peach’s castle. Mario grabs a hold of the castle but is flung into space.
As Mario begins his journey to save Peach, he wakes up on a small planet and speaks to the “watcher of the stars.” He finds out that the only way to rescue the dear Princess Peach is to travel around in search of stars that will power the “watcher of the stars” observatory. She will then take Mario to Bowser so that he can rescue the Princess.
Mario collects stars and is enabled to travel to more outlying galaxies. After Bowser’s third defeat his sun collapses in on itself and creates a super black hole. To prevent the Universe from collapsing in on itself the Lumas join together inside the black hole.
