Jobs for Gamers Part 3: What to Consider for Paid Testing Jobs
Would you like to land a good gig that can pay you for checking out video games in your own home? That’s right. One of the fast jobs that you can snag, and have a good time with, is being a tester of video games. This is one of the latest you’ve-got-to-have-it-to-enjoy-it jobs in video gaming industry.
If you like the idea of spending hours playing never-before-seen video games, this is the perfect job for you. And you need not worry about having to understand more about the technical stuff of the work, although, of course, it is still necessary for you to understand the debugging processes so that you can give fair and accurate comments for the games that you will test-play in your home.
But just like other jobs in different trades, you have to know what you need to consider. This works two ways: One, you won’t be taken as a fool by others who will harp on your ignorance. And, two, you will feel confident enough to face the zing, bat, clonk of the glitches and bugs of the gaming arena just like those who have been engaging in this for quite some time.
* The Right Firms
Although many are called, few are chosen. This may not only involve the gaming aspirants like you but also those who offer this job to the public. Not everyone can be trusted.
With that in mind, be wary in getting into a working agreement with just about anybody who is quick to guarantee you with a large sum. Usually, they are the ones who get the guarantee out of your hands quickly.
That said, there are also legitimate firms, so search well.
* The Number of Games to Check
Typically, the number of games that you will have to test would be four (4) newly developed games that haven’t been introduced to the public yet. Other firms may probably give you more or less to work on. If you don’t know how many are going to be assigned to you, better ask beforehand so you would be able to handle all the gaming tasks accordingly.
* Working Hours to Spend
Although this type of work would prove to be fun, there is the tendency that you may encounter some problems in managing your time to play and test the games, and find out that you are losing out on some precious time left for other personal duties and family obligations.
* Your Choice of Payment Terms
Payment terms for your services should also be considered. You have to know when and how you are going to be paid. Don’t just chuck this information because you think it’s irrelevant, and expect the firm to handle this to your standards.
Better speak up, and learn the financial side of the biz.
You have to know your way around these types of jobs in video gaming industry. Paid testers earn their keep because they know how to enter this work. So, if you want to be one, don’t forget the tips above.
