Over the years, games developed from black and white to colored, 2D to 3D, from the Television Screens to small, portable little screens. This is because of the never-ending demands of children who get hooked up to mind-challenging and adventurous games.

Even with today’s highly developed games and consoles, it continues to develop as more and more companies invest their money on the gaming industry. One of them is Paramount, who is soon to start publishing and developing games. The company has stated that they are planning to get into real games from their film production and distribution. The Spore Revolution

Spore Logo

By Adam Long

I can remember the first time I heard about Spore. I was online reading about the 2006 Game Developers Conference, and I saw a headline about Will Wright showcasing his new game at the conference. Being an avid fan of Wright’s work, I checked it out. I watched a fairly long video of Wright showing off an early version of Spore to a bunch of game developers. The developers were wowed, and so was I.

With Spore, Wright will change the way video games are made-forever. Wright, who co-founded Maxis in 1986 with Jeff Braun, set out from the beginning to make a different kind of video gaming experience. You might have heard of Wright’s other successful projects, such as SimCity and the The Sims. In case you didn’t know, these titles are sort of a big deal. Games are still being made in these franchises. But how does one top The Sims or SimCity (one of my all time favorite series of games, by the way)? Wright must have thought it was simple. Make a game that allows the gamer to play through the evolutionary process of an entirely user-created creature’s life (more…)

Olympics Piracy and Lousy Sales

March 26, 2008 By: Lynder Category: General, Industry News No Comments →

Gaming experience has never been better… and cheaper. Sometimes it’s even free.

Well that is unless you download off an internet site, or buy one of those pirated CDs, which can easily get you a ticket for some jail time (thus using up some of your valuable gaming time). Nowadays, everyone seems to be doing it, be it intentionally or not, from individuals (like your ‘friend who ‘tried’ out this pirated version of a video game just to see if it is worth buying) to billionaire organizations (like the organizers of the Olympics). The Future of Community Gaming

March 23, 2008 By: Lynder Category: General, Industry News 4 Comments →

As the internet progresses, along with the development of China and other countries, the gaming industry, and its leaders, is finding itself under more and more pressure to come up with various gaming ideas that will freshen up the industry. Recently, a lot of products (game consoles and the games themselves) have been nothing more of a disappointment. For instance, the huge failure of Daikatana and Sony’s PS3 is nothing short of discouraging, and that is saying it nicely. (more…)

Army of Two (Xbox 360, PS3)

March 21, 2008 By: Oliver Category: General, Hot Games 2 Comments →

boxart.jpg INTRODUCTION
Army of Two, also called AoT, was developed by Electronic Arts. It was released on March 4th of this year for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Army of Two is a third person shooter game that is actually based on a story of a couple of Private Military contractors.  It is a sort of like the game, Gears of War. Players will be partnered up by the built-in “Partner Artificial Intelligence,” (PAI) or other players. Together the players will fight in war, will battle political uproar, and will combat an enormous conspiracy. Partnership is necessary to successfully beat the game, because some of the missions will be nearly unfeasible without teamwork.

Gaming Nitty Gritty in Asia

March 18, 2008 By: Lynder Category: General, Industry News No Comments →

In the United States, most of the gamers tend to play by themselves (or with a couple of their friends), most often in their rooms or the family’s game room, not unless they are attending a convention of some sort. In the West, most serious gamers do not play with people they do not know, because quite frankly, it is weird to just start playing with someone whose name you are not even sure of.

But in Asia, it is a whole different story.

GTA IVThe new GTA 4 will focus on a Eastern European character named Nikolai “Niko” Bellic whi is between 28 and 32 years of age. The character has come to Liberty City straight from overseas to pursue the american dream. Niko’s cousin persuaded him to come to to America by e-mailing Niko how he would live a fabulous life in a mansion width two women, four hot tubs, and fifteen sports cars. In reality Niko’s cousin was telling lies to cover his own failures and only had a small taxi business for Niko to work for.

Originally Rockstar Games set the release for October 16, 2007 was changed in August of 2007 due to development delays. It was later said that much of the delay was because of technical difficulties with Playstation 3. Finally on January 24, 2007 Take-Two announced the official release date for GTA 4 would be April 28, 2008.
