Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution
Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution has the abbreviation Civ Rev. Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution is a remake of Civilization, which was developed by Firaxis. Sid Meier was the designer for Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A version for the Nintendo Wii was considered but has since been brushed aside. There is no version available for the PlayStation portable because there wasn’t enough development help to create a version for the PlayStation Portable.
Sid Meier is pretty excited about this creation.
A demonstration of the game was released on the fifth of June in Xbox Live Marketplace, and the North American PlayStation Store. With the demo, players are able to play until 1250 AD. Players can be Cleopatra or Julius Caesar, and can also play in multiplayer mode.
GAMEPLAY
Xbox 360
Civilization Revolution is in likeness to the PC versions of the Civilization series. This is a game where strategy is used and the player can take sixteen different civilizations from history and moving them into modern times and to the future. Each civilization has its own strengths. The console version of the game has been made more simple, so that new players find it easier.
Players can win in four different ways. If a player captures all the capital cities of all other civilizations, Domination. The player can create a grand total of 20 great persons, wonders, and cities, and build the United Nations, Culture. The player can create the World Bank, Economic. The final way to win is to be the first to reach Alpha Centauri, Technology.
CIVILIZATIONS IN THE GAME
Players can act as one of the sixteen different civilizations. Each has a different leader. Each civilization has a unique ability. As the game progresses, each civilization is given a new ability for each time period that they pass. There are four time periods throughout the course of the game. Some if the civilizations have unique units that are unique to them and their abilities. Each civilization has a leader unique to that location and time. For example, England’s leader is Queen Elizabeth I. Other civilizations and leaders are: Japan, Tokugawa Leyasu. Aztec, Moctezuma II. China, Mao Zedong. India, Mohandas Gandhi. Mongolia, Genghis Khan. Rome, Julius Caesar. Egypt, Cleopatra. France, Napoleon Bonaparte. Arabia, Saladin. Greece, Alexander the Great. Spain, Isabella of Castille. Germany, Otto von Bismarck. Zulu, Shaka. Russia, Catherine II. America, Abraham Lincoln. In addition, there are NPC barbarians who wage war with all civilians. They will continue until the globe is captured or all the civilizations are destroyed.
MULTIPLAYER
Nintendo DS
Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution has numerous options for multiplayer mode. Match making and ranked games are available for up to four players. Players can play in a free for all mode, a one on one mode, and a two on two team battle. This will also support leaderboards, and voice and video chat. Many people complain about the length of time multiplayer mode takes, but there is an option that allows players to put a timer to accelerate gameplay.
