Critical Hit - Hellboy II: The Golden Army

July 13, 2008 By: GrandMaster Category: General, Movie Talk 2 Comments →

As a huge Hellboy fan, let me tell you how much I enjoyed this film. I loved it! Hellboy
I’m one of those freaks that liked the first movie a lot too but I also am a fan of the comic book. Hellboy II keeps things real in the Hellboy universe but takes it to the next level. The second installment is much more fantastic than the first where the first dealt with more ancient evils the second deals with more fantasy characters and the story of the Golden Army.

Guillermo del Toro did a great job on taking Hellboy’s story and kicking it up a notch. Of course you get to see Hellboy, Abe Sapien and Liz Sherman do their thing but you also get to know a more personal side of all three characters. There are also a few twists in the plot that I did not expect to see take place but I think you, like I was, will be pleasantly surprised.

Microsoft’s Slimmer Xbox 360 Consoles

Apparently there is some talk about a Microsoft idea for advancing their console in terms of making is smaller and more affordable. As research develops they are improving their motherboards and chip sets. This reflects lower prices for the consumer and easier production of more powerful equipment as seen in 2005, their original model used a Xenon motherboard was replaced with a smaller model which consequently, though not readily visually apparent, shaved the model down in size and upped it in efficiency. Does this mean Xbox will be debuting an amazing new design and throwing a party? I doubt it as this is just hearsay, however it almost seems inevitable as technology maintains its ever shrinking size and growing power. Educate yourself!

Activision plans to create a set of games specifically designed with the Wii’s revolutionary controls and concepts in mind. “The Wii is introducing new audiences to gaming,” says Dave Oxford. (Activision Publishing) “Clearly, the Wii’s accessible controls are changing how the audience plays games and how we look at game design. This initiative is designed to showcase games that take full advantage of the Wii’s capabilities.” The new franchise is named “Wee 1st” and is made for very young gamers with simple controls and easy and fun games to play.

Their selection of games that will initiate their idea will be dancing games such as Dancing with the Stars: Get Your Dance On, fishing games such as Rapala® Fishing Frenzy and sports games such as Little League® World Series 2008. The plan is to have these great products avaliable by the 2008 holiday season. Santa may be having a tougher time finding enough Wiis yet again this Christmas, but at least his bag will be a little lighter.

Diablo III

Diablo fans have been waiting a long time to fight evil again. I can personally relate to them because fighting evil in the world of Diablo is direct and simply yet satisfying and certainly a blast. Fans will be happy to know the look of the series stays true to it’s predecessors despite the transition to 3-D and many new tricks have been added to enhance the game-play. In addition to 5 classes, some of which are returning (such as the Barbarian) from Diablo II and some of which are new, (such as the Witch Doctor) players will still be able to duke it out against Diablo’s minions together employing some very fun attacks and spells. The game features destructible environments, puzzles, lethal enemies and “a near endless supply of items” tied together with creepy environments, disgustingly fun gore and intense sound effects. While there is no official release date from Blizzard (which is something we are learning to expect from them) hopefully in roughly a year we’ll be able to sharpen our axes and summon the elements to battle burning hells once again. Critical Hit - Hancock

July 07, 2008 By: GrandMaster Category: General, Movie Talk 2 Comments →

HancockAnother Independence Day here in America and another Will Smith Summer Blockbuster to go see. Will it live up to the hype and the long-standing reputation of Will Smith July 4th movies?

John Hancock is an unconventional and almost unwilling super hero for the city of Los Angeles. Hancock lives like a bum in L.A. where the whole city hates him. Why? He saves the day when it needs saving but he does it without much thought process or care for the rest of the citizenry. That is until he saves the life of a P.R. guy named Ray Embrey. Ray attempts to repay the favor of saving his life by trying to save Hancock’s reputation with the people of L.A. (more…)

Guiding a Guild

July 04, 2008 By: Lynder Category: Industry News, PC 6 Comments →

No man is an island. And the saying also holds true when it comes to playing Defense of the Ancients or DOTA. In a competitive computer game which requires an effective team play more importantly than just individual know-how, teams are being built hoping they could be the best team, clan or guild out there in the game of DOTA. DOTA tournaments are being held every season in every part of the world and so guilds and clans are always getting ready and practicing so that they could show their top game when the tournament will be held. Since these tournaments are usually done thru the internet or thru GG-client, higher level players are more or less scouted for the guild.
