Guitar Hero World Tour

Guitar Hero World Tour was originally dubbed Guitar Hero IV. It is to be released October 26th. It is a music video game for the Guitar Hero Series. On October 26th the game is expected to be released for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation3, Wii, and Xbox 360.
Guitar Hero World Tour will continue to use the guitar-shaped controller to replicate rock music on the television screen. Guitar Hero World Tour will feature drum and microphone controllers to allow players to take part in percussion and vocal parts. Gameplay will be fairly equivalent to the competition in rock band games: Rock Band. New interests in the game included: players will be allowed to create new songs using the drums, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, and bass guitar. However, the studio mode will not allow players to record vocals due to copyrights and storage space limitations. The game has the capabilities to allow the players to upload and share their songs and download other people’s songs.
GAMEPLAY
Guitar Hero World Tour is building on the gameplay from the previous guitar hero games. This consists of the players attempting to simulate playing rock music using the guitar-shaped controller. Guitar Hero World Tour bursts the seams of the general Guitar Hero gameplay and introduces the ability to play the drums and sing the vocal parts. The game will support up to four players to play together in a virtual band through the different instruments. Like the other Guitar Hero games, correctly hitting notes will increase the player or the band’s score and will increase the rock meter. The rock meter represents the song’s performance. If the rock meter drops too low, the song will end early and the virtual audience will boo the band. Successfully completing the song will give the player a one to five star rating, depending on the total score throughout the song, also rewards like in game money is awarded to be used to purchase new costumes and new equipment for the characters.
The guitar interface operates in the same way that it has in the past Guitar Hero games. Just like with the other Guitar Hero Games, the guitar and bass player have to hold down the correct fret buttons on the controller while keeping beat and staying in tune and hitting the notes that scroll across the bottom of the screen. A small addition to the game is the ability to play notes while holding a long note.
The bass player will come across note tracks that involve a straight line across the on-screen fret. The drum interface is similar to the guitar. With each on-screen note track equivalent to a colored drum head on the controller. The bass drum is indicated by a line across the note track. The drummer needs to just hit the correct drum pads to effectively play their track. Drum tracks will include “armored” notes. These notes will need to be struck harder than the regular notes to get bonus points.
The drum career will have sections of a song that are for the drummer to have solos. The vocal track requires the player to match pitches of notes that is similar to Karaoke Revolution. Special sections of the note track of each player is glowing notes, if these notes are completed successfully, they will help build a “Power Star”. Once enough Power Star is collected, it can be released to boost the band’s score multiplier. To use the Power Star when using the guitar and base the player has to lift the guitar vertically or press a button on the guitar face. For the drums, the player has to strike both cymbal pads on the controller at the same time. To activate the Power Star when on vocals the player has to tap the microphone or make a similar sound.
Besides the normal four levels, Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert, and brand new intro level has been added. That level is “Beginner”. The new level is meant to allow players who are new to the game to play. The notes in the new Beginner level are simple and in straight lines that are in time with the bass drum beats.
