Max Payne
Mark Wahlberg is Max Payne and as someone who played the games, I have to say that I
enjoyed the movie. The beginning was a tad slow to get the story going but once they finally did, then it was on.
The game is all about the slow motion fighting and such but the movie only has a few instances of slow motion so that was a little disappointing. The plot however, is kept extremely close to the games plots, including all the Norse mythology. Sam Lake who helped create the games, helped write the movie and thus it pays off.
As far as acting goes, I thought Wahlberg did a fine job as Payne. Mila Kunis as Mona Sax was a great role for her. I’m so used to seeing her do stupid roles and this was a good change that I could believe. Beau Bridges plays BB Hensley. Bridges is a favorite actor of mine and I thought he brought new life to the BB character. The random actor of the movie was Chris O’Donnell as Jason Colvin. He wasn’t in the movie for long but since he basically fell off the earth as an actor, I shouldn’t be surprised.
Overall, it was a good experience. If you played the game or you just like shoot’em up movies, then this is a GO! I loved the dark feel to the movie and the character acting of Wahlberg as Payne. You could feel Max’s pain and it made the movie worth watching.
Until next time, drink your blue drugs and go shoot some fools (in a game) and as always, watch out for those Critical Hits!
