Critical Hit - Australia
Australia
If you want to watch a film about the WWII era of Australia that packs an hour and a half into 2 hours and 45 minutes then Australia is for you!
Honestly, this is how you present this movie? You’d say the same. Don’t try to think you wouldn’t! Australia is such a simple premise for a movie with a very simple story and it attempts to create something epic…but if fails.
Nicole Kidman plays Lady Sarah Ashley who comes to Aussie land to fetch her husband. She gets to use her native tongue of British English, isn’t that fun? Hugh Jackman plays a guy who is a cattle driver named Drover. They end up moving some cattle to make money to sell a farm. Honestly, this movie isn’t worth the time to even talk about it. The acting was decent by the leads but everyone else was lacking.
Then, add to it that the majority of this film was done with CGI in a studio in L.A. Even a lot of the scenes were clearly done on a set and not in Australia. Then, add a ton of slow motion shots of people’s faces as they look at stuff. It all adds up to a failure of a movie that I cannot recommend to anyone. Sorry.
So PASS on Australia and just go visit the country one day. It’ll be a better experience, I’m sure.
Until next time, watch out for those Critical Hits!
