Critical Hit - The Day the Earth Stood Still
The Day the Earth Stood Still
OR The Day Hollywood Made An Epic Message Movie. Yeah folks, this is everything I
thought it would be. Hollywood preaching to the World and especially America that we suck and shouldn’t be living on Earth and that everything we do is wrong and that aliens should come kill us all.
Shut up Hollywood! Kiss my butt and shut your mouth.
Keanu Reeves plays Klaatu, an alien who comes to Earth to get a report from another alien on if Human’s should be allowed to live or not. Of course, the people in charge (Kathy Bates as Regina Jackson as Sec. of Defense, speaking for the Prez who’s scared to be seen the whole movie) who welcome the alien are a bunch of idiots who make mankind and American’s look like idiots. No surprise from Hollywood there.
Then add Jennifer Connelly as Helen Benson in as a random scientist who knows the lead scientists to fill in some plot holes oh and don’t forget her annoying step son Jacob Benson played by Jaden Smith. Hollywood just can’t resist having annoying kids in these end of world movies. John Cleese also makes a VERY brief appearance as Professor Barnhardt and it was nice to see him do something serious but of course, it was much to short to really appreciate.
So Klaatu decides to wipe out mankind but Helen Benson attempts to change his mind. I find it funny that humans can’t take care of the Earth by polluting so much (or that’s what I assume I’m being yelled at for in this movie) and yet Klaatu has Helen drive him all over New Jersey. Can’t walk? Can’t take a bike there alien boy?
Bottom line is I can’t stand a message movie. I wanna see a fun story or a moving story when I go to the movies. I don’t want to be preached at. I go to church for that. Thanks.
The acting was dull, the story was dull, the CGI was on OVERLOAD and the movie was pointless. An hour and a half of HUMANS SUCK! And then to finish they give ten minutes of WELL, YOU’RE ALRIGHT I GUESS. REALLY?!!!! THANKS HOLLYWOOD! Plus add in the fact that this isn’t a remake of the original AT ALL! A couple aspects and names have been taken from the original to have name recognition so that people will see it. The story is nothing like the original. In fact, I’d like to recommend the 1951 classic to y’all instead of this piece of junk.
This was LAME! PASS is my recommendation. Ignore the movie, don’t see and tell others that it blows. Thanks.
Until next time, watch out for those crazy product placements and those Critical Hits!
