Movies based on books are sometimes fantastic and most of the time pretty bad.
Inkheart, while a good book, doesn’t work as a movie. Why? because the author, Cornelia Funke, wanted to make this into a movie all along and discard the book. Don’t believe me? Here’s why I think this.
Her protagonist, Mo ‘Silvertongue’ Folchart was based on Brendan Fraser, the guy playing Mo in the film! Now this is an interesting way to do things but silly in my opinion. Fraser is a lack luster actor who brings nothing special to the screen. He does alright but is very average as an actor. He’s never (more…)

One of the classic fighting franchises has returned! Street Fight makes its return to the gaming world in style with Street Fighter IV!
ST4 comes back with a vengeance and a very unique look. The game plays like all the
classic ST games do in a 2D side scrolling but the characters and the stages are all in 3D! Capcom has also made all the characters look similar to their predecessor versions. Each character has a brush stroke look to their avatar to make look like they could exist on the SNES but yet they are 3D models. ST4 really is a daring attempt to mix the vintage look of the franchise with the new 3D world of fighting games. I am most shocked that its not a true 3D fighting environment like most fighting games are today. I applaud the Capcom crew for trying something different. (more…)

An intense ride of defiance against the Nazi’s to simply survive. Defiance is just that, a survivor story and it’s a true one. This story is about three Jewish brothers who escape from Nazi-occupied Poland into the Belarussian forest. They flee because their family is slaughtered by the Nazi’s and they have nowhere else to turn. Inside the forest, more and more Jews join their group. Tuvia Bielski leads as eldest of the Bielski brothers. As word spreads of their village, more and more Jews come seeking them for refuge. Their only endeavor is to survive. Zus Bielski, gets fed up with being second in command and joins a Russian resistance group near the Jewish village.

2005, a year of many highs and many
lows.
But ultimately, it was a year of change. And what a heck of a change we were given. No, I’m not talking about rising taxes or the price of petrol going up. I’m talking about one of the best games of the modern century - Resident Evil 4.
Cast your minds back to 1998. The year that the iconic Resident Evil 2 hit the shelves. Now, concentrate on the game play. Dodgy controls, pre-rendered graphics, horrible voice acting… All gone. Yes in Capcom’s most thrilling adventure yet, Resident Evil has had a digital facelift. Even Raccoon City, (more…)

Oh yes! You’ve waited for it like you’ve waited for tax season but here it is anyway. Try not to cough as you cram it down your throat.

10 - The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
I had no choice but to put this on my list. For a movie, it was couldn’t have been easy to do, technically speaking. The acting was sound and the story was unique. So it makes the last spot. (more…)

Safety never takes a holiday!
My first 2009 movie and I laughed plenty! Kevin James returns to the big screen but this time in a pure comedy that’s fun for everyone!
James plays Paul Blart, a Mall Cop with hypoglycemia. He wants to be a New Jersey State Trooper but runs out of sugar energy before he can ever make it. So, he continues his day job, very seriously, at the Mall as a Security Officer. (You may have heard the controversy in the biz about Security Guard and Security Officer? No? You will)
Jayma Mays plays Amy, the girl of Paul’s dreams (you may remember her from Heroes). Then, it all hits the fan. (more…)

“Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.”
Famous words from one of the most famous book series ever written, the Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien and now, after the movies, many games, including an M.M.O. we’ve received a real Lord of the Rings combat game! (more…)

Alright folks, the city screams and the Spirit of the city, its defender comes calling.
This is a campy fun and ridiculous comic book movie. It actually runs a lot like the actual comic so don’t expect a realistic look like say Batman or Ironman. This is Spirit, its stylized, its ridiculous and its fun.
Gabriel Macht plays The Spirit and its fun. He monologues like he does in the comic book and its odd at first but then fun. He’s after his rival The Octopus who is played by the man himself, Samuel L. Jackson. Jackson is in everything lately but he makes Octopus fun because he is (more…)

A curious yet intriguing case is Benjamin Button. This film is based off of a book
(as most movies are lately) and deals with a man that is born as an old man. Benjamin grows up being told by his mother (the woman who raised him, not birthed him) that he is special and that he won’t live long. He ends up living and living and growing younger and younger physically but older and older mentally. It really is an intriguing story.
Brad Pitt plays Benjamin Button and he does a great job. Pitt plays the voice of the character in the entire film but not the physical character. There is a lot of CGI in this movie in dealing with Button but you don’t notice it really. (more…)

Like silly stories? So do I and that’s why I liked Bedtime Stories.
Skeeter Bronson as played by Adam Sandler is a guy who has to watch his sister’s kids for a week. He tells them stories at bedtime to help them go to sleep. During these stories the kids get involved and add in their own additions to the stories. Later, Skeeter notices parts of the story begin happening in real life.
Russell Brand plays Skeeter’s friend, Mickey and he’s really funny. Some other notable names are Lucy Lawless, Keri Russell, Guy Pearce and Jonathan Pryce. Sandler’s buddies all make their small appearances in the film as well.
