Punch-Out

The hardcore element of Nintendo fans are reknowned for their love of nostalgia and reluctance to see the games they love change that much, and very soon a large fix of nostalgia is coming their way as Punch-Out, a boxing classic from the days of the NES, is making a come back on Nintendo Wii.
You may remember the original Punch-Out. You were put in the shoes, or boots of Little Mac and faced with a range of very different opponents all of which had two things in common - they all looked quite bizarre, and were all a bit cocky! And it was you that had to bring them down a rung or two. The original Punch-Out is quite literally a classic title, and one which never truly got the recognition it deserved - but perhaps that will change this time around.

Many of the opponents seen in the previous Punch-Out title return, including the fans favourite King Hippo! Only this time he is larger, but looks great in all his full three-dimensional glory.
Boxing fans in general may fear that this is just another title on the Wii where you will always knockout your opponents if you swing your arms fast enough - but this shouldn’t be the case with Punch-Out. Yes, you take swings by thrusting your Wii remote and nun-chuk forward and backward like in other titles, but you can only throw so many punches in a second which encourages you to be more considerate of how, where and when you throw your punches.
Punch-Out will come complete with a soundtrack which will throw you back to your NES gaming days, but with graphics that more than live upto today’s standards. Because of the game’s nature, the graphical style is cartoon-like, with a hint of ‘anime’ about it, too which suits the game down to the ground.
Punch-Out is due for release on Nintendo Wii on May 22nd 2009. Definitely a game worth taking a look at!
