Critical Hit: X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Wolverine is back! What are ya gonna do about it, bub? The ultimate loaner makes his return to the big screen and his origins are revealed.

I’m really not gonna say much about the plot of Wolverine because I think you should just experience it for yourself. I’ll say that as an avid comic book reader, I wasn’t too happy with it but hey, I wasn’t about the X-Men trilogy either. I will say that I enjoyed a lot about Wolverine however, especially MOST of the acting.

As far as the acting is concerned, Wolverine gets a fairly high grade from me. Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) was done just as good, if not a little better, than the trilogy. Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth was amazing. I’m a huge Schreiber fan and he made Victor Creed come alive. Danny Huston captured a younger William Stryker perfectly. Kevin Durand as The Blob was awesome, however he, lik Dominic Monaghan as Bolt suffered from little screen time. Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool is dead on however, his story was messed up pretty badly. Taylor Kitsch as Gambit was interesting. He acted the part however, he didn’t sound the part. His acent was atrosious! He sounded like someone from Oklahoma or northern Alabama/Mississipii. Where is my cajun accent?! Holy crap people! You might as well have Captain America have a British accent because that makes as much sense as Remy LeBeau being southern instead of CAJUN! Rant over.

If you liked the X-Men Trilogy at all or even disliked it, then you’ll like and dislike Wolverine for the exact same reasons. Marvel seems to think that screwing up their comic book stories on the big screen is fun while getting dead on actors for the main characters. I’m confused because Wolverine had potential to be a spectacular movie and instead, like the X-Men movies, it just barely pulled itself off in the end. I enjoyed it but the things that I hated from the original X-Men movies still burn me up because they continue in Wolverine.

Until next time, enjoy the naken man in the barn and watch out for those Critical Hits!
