Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has come and with a vengence. Decepticon forces return to Earth on a mission to take Sam Witwicky prisoner, after the young hero learns the truth about the ancient origins of the Transformers. Joining the mission to protect humankind is Optimus Prime, who forms an alliance with international armies for a second epic battle.

In what can be called the perfect summer movie epic, Transformers 2 delivers exactly like the first with a little more punch. Director/Producer Michael Bay brings the same formula from the first film to the second and without question this is the best movie of the year. You just can’t have more fun at the movies then when you see a Transformers film. These are just the coolest films you’ll ever see. I mean, there are Transformers running around on screen most of the movie…that is AWESOME!

Speaking of Transformers on screen most of the movie, the characters have been ramped up in this one. New Transformers added are Jetfire, Soundwave, Demolishor, Mixmaster, Long Haul, Rampage, Scrapper, Scavenger, Hightower, Overlord, Devastator, Jolt, Sideswipe, Mudflap, Skids, Arcee, Grindor, Wheelie, Ravage, Scalpel, Sideways,  and The Fallen. Add to this Starscream, Bumblebee, Scorponok, Ratchet, Ironhide, Optimus Prime and Megatron. There are a bunch of little Transformers added as well who don’t get credits but you’ll see them. The voice acting is great and each brings their own flair to their roles.

Acting in the film was on par with the first with Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf), Mikaela Banes (Megan Fox), Captain Lennox (Josh Duhamel), Agent Simmons (John Turturro), General Morshower (Glenn Morshower) and some others returning. Leo (Ramon Rodriguez) is the only new character with any time on screen. He did alright but filled in the insanity where Sam’s character wasn’t filling in this time around. Agent Simmons character grew on me this time around as he had a character overhaul and I liked it. Everyone else was fairly similar. Sam and Mikaela were a little more mature but not that much.

The Transformers fight a lot in Revenge of the Fallen. I craved more of this from the first film and the second gives that to us.  Transformers is just a big geek fest for me. It has drama, sci-fi, humor, action, epic battles, its pure win and I can’t wait until 2012 when our last enstallment (baring a Dinobots spin off) of the franchise.

In 2007, my movie of the year was Transformers and in 2009, Revenge of the Fallen has an excellent change of taking the crown once again. Go see it, tonight!
