Recently, Zenimax Media bought id Software. You may not have ever heard of Zenimax Media but they are the parent group (as most companies you know of have a parent company) of Bethesda Game Studios. id is best known for its Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein franchises. Both studios have promised to remain at their best as proven by their executives signing long-term contracts to continue their jobs. The question is…what does this mean to all of us gamers?

Think about it for a second. Bethesda has the Elder Scrolls franchise (which is awesome and will continue for a long time). Then Bethesda gets their hands on the Fallout franchise and blows everyone away with the third game that no fan thought would ever actually get made (Duke Nukem Forever anyone?). Now, old franchises that we all grew up with and love, from id, have the man power and money behind them that Fallout and Elder Scrolls have. So think about it. We could have Quake, Wolfenstein and Doom games with a ton of money thrown behind them which means…epic gaming for us. So, this is an awesome thing and you should know about it. Keep an eye out for how this plays.
