Final Fantasy fans have been looking forward to this for quite some time and it’s arrival is almost upon us. The fighter-rpg crossbreed that is Dissidia Final Fantasy is out on September 4th 2009 and it has been worth waiting for!

Dissidia Final Fantasy has been called for by fans of the Final Fantasy series for a long, long time now. It brings together heroes and villains from Final Fantasy 1 through 10, or I through X if you prefer in vast combat arenas taken from the same range of games in a deep, vibrant fighter title with the RPG twist that you would expect from Final Fantasy.

Unforunately a few camera-view flaws have been realised early on and the story behind the events in Dissidia Final Fantasy is surprisingly shallow for a Final Fantasy title, but the fighting mode more than makes up for these minor niggles which don’t actually happen to everyone – but despite that if you do come across them they will of course be very frustrating.

Dissidia Final Fantasy is much more than your traditional fighting title. You are not confined into small side scrolling arenas here – instead you are in large locations in which you can jump and fly around in full three dimensions, and pulling off impressive attack combinations in mid-air is very satisfying!

There is far too much in Dissidia Final Fantasy to go through in such a short preview, but we can tell you it is certainly worth buying. If you love fighting games but aren’t a fan of Final Fantasy, this will soon make you become one – it’s that good. Dissidia Final Fantasy appears on the PSP on September 4th 2009.
