Take your place on a bizarre and desolute planet, trashed during recent events and inhabited only by drastically mutated aliens and creatures who’s only goal in life is to eat you, or just kill you if they’re not feeling hungry when you stumble across their path. Welcome to Borderlands!

Borderlands is a mixture of genres and there are few titles that it can be reasonably compared to such is it’s unique blend of gameplay, style and ultimate goal, but you wouldn’t go far wrong if you consider a cross between the Halo and Timesplitters titles.

You are part of a four-strong team of mercenaries on a quest to track down an alien treasure, which may or may not be present on the bizarre planet you find yourself on – and ultimately may not even be treasure at all, but these guys are outcasts in the strongest sense of the word and they are more than willing to take their chances.

Borderlands is an incredibly enjoyable first person shooter experience the likes of which we have not seen before. It has the gameplay and athmosphere of Halo, the pace of Timesplitters and a unique method of loot collecting and cell-shaded like (but not really) graphical appearance – all of which combined add up to one hell of a game! Borderlands is out October 23rd 2009 for PC, Playstation 3 and XBox 360 – be sure to try out the multiplayer, but you may want to book some time off work first!

The amount of guns in this game make it unrealistic, but it still looks like it may be worth buying.
