You would be forgiven for thinking Tekken hasn’t made an appearance for many years, but infact in has only been away for two! Tekken 6 is now with us and attempts to thrust the series back to the fore-front of the fighting genre where it used to sit so proudly.

Tekken: Dark Resurrection was the most recent title in the series, which unfortunately was only released on the PS3 two years ago and went relatively un-noticed by many because of the console exclusivity. Tekken 6 however see’s the series back with a vengeance on all major platforms and will challenge the likes of Soul Calibur, Street Fighter and so on once more.

Tekken 6 will not feel completely new to fans of the series as it boasts many familiar characters, arenas and gameplay traits that will be almost instantly recognisable, however it does offer enough new content and qualities to make it worth buying, and to make it a unique standalone title in a series of classics before it.

Tekken 6 features 41 playable characters altogether, six of which are brand new to this release. As you would expect you can take your chosen character through a variety of different game modes including a deep single player campaign, two dedicated two-player modes and modes with a modern twist such as Ghost Battle which pits you against an opponent fighting with the stats of live online players behind them, having been downloaded via your internet connection that is - providing you have one.

Tekken 6 brings the series back with a bang, and the game has enough here to make it a great introduction the the franchise for those youngsters who didn’t hear much about it before, whilst also showing enough variety and difficulty management abilities to give the more hardcore Tekken gamers out there a great gaming experience that they have been sorely missing for years now. Buy it fighting fans!
