Entertainment franchises don’t come much bigger than Star Wars! The movies are huge, and the videogame spin-offs haven’t done badly by any means either. The most successful to date was Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic on XBox and PC, and the universe in which that game was based is going online in Star Wars: The Old Republic.
That’s right! Star Wars: The Old Republic will be a new massively multiplayer online game, quite obviously based on the Star Wars franchise – it’s true! During which timeframe this game will be based in is not yet known to us, but we’ll be sure to bring you that news as it’s discovered.

STAR WARS: THE OLD REPUBLIC TRAILER |
What we do know is that unlike most online role playing games which focus on player progression, fighting and exploring, Star Wars: The Old Republic will introduce a fourth parameter, which is story. Story will play a big part in your game experience, and the effects of the story on you, other human controlled characters and non-playable characters will be unique to each.
Another promising feature is that you’ll be able to choose a profession in the online world of Star Wars: The Old Republic – from a list of “classic star wars” professions, we won’t speculate on exactly what those could be. Also you will be given plenty of opportunity to educate your character either in the ways of the Jedi – the lightside, or in the ways of the Sith – the darkside.
Your choice of profession and education will effect almost everything else you do in the game, as these are unique traits to each player so you’ll need to keep your wits about you, and be a good judge of character – do you look after number one from the beginning? Or would socialising with other players in an attempt to bag some allies be more beneficial? The choice is yours!
