Film spin-off games seem to be everywhere lately, and though Aliens VS Predator is based on films from years ago, it looks set to surpass the quality of the more modern spinoff action titles such as Batman Arkham Asylum, and that takes some doing.

Aliens VS Predator at first glimpse appears to be something of a simple three way brawler title with you playing as either a Xenomorph Alien, the Predator or the human colonial marines – but that couldn’t be further from reality. The fact is the game allows you to play through three entire campaigns as your desired race, each with storylines, twists and turns of their own.

This is being billed as a first person action title, which we can only assume means something along the lines of the Doom series only with a touch more plot to back it up – and true to the reputation of both Aliens and Predator movies, the game includes far more blood and gore than your average action title so it’s probably not a game for the feint hearted, or the youngsters.

The three different character modes feel very different to the others, so you could look at Aliens VS Predator as three action games for the price of one. Obviously your choice of playable characters decides many things such as your ultimate intentions, your attack and defence capabilities and your entire perspective within the game world.

Aliens VS Predator is scheduled for release on February 26th 2010 for PC, Playstation 3 and XBox 360.
