MX vs ATV Reflex

If you’ve been dirty in a videogame recently, you probably bought Dirt 2. Beyond that there have been very few notable off-road racers around in recent times, and it seems many gamers believe the wait has been far too long - but the much anticipated MX vs ATV Reflex is now with us.

The MX games, and ATV games are better known for their individual franchise outings, but together they promise an invigorating blend of off-road racing that few titles have ever had before, and with fans of both series coming together to pluck it from the shelves recently as expected it’s been a big seller.

Much of the preview material released for MX vs ATV Reflex appeared flawless. Screenshots shew some crazy racing and insane mid-air tricks on both off road bikes as well as quads, and all the promise shown is now reality, the game offers loads of variety and you’ll find yourself spending plenty of time trying to master some hot tricks.

However, the overall impression of the videogames industry is that MX vs ATV Reflex doesn’t really stack up in terms of visuals. Dirt kicking up has always been a tricky concept in videogames, but given today’s hardware power a bit more realism in this area was expected – more time clearly could and should have been spent on it, but perhaps it’ll be polished up ahead of next years European release.

MX vs ATV Reflex boasts a huge range of bikes and tracks to ride them on, each defacable with the changes having a real impact on you as you complete lap by lap. Certainly a game worth checking out, but it may not give you a lasting thrill thanks to the lackluster visuals! It’s out now for Playstation 3, XBox 360, PSP and DS.
