Survival horror titles usually follow a set script which you can guess as you play along to some degree, but Silent Hill: Shattered Memories surprises you in every aspect – not least it’s unusual twist on what you would expect a new Silent Hill title to be.
Things do start in a familiar fashion in Silent Hill: Shattered Memories though, with your lead character Harry Mason losing control of his car on the icy roads and crashes as he enters the small town of Silent Hill and awakes to the horrifying realisation that his seven-year-old daughter Cheryl is nowhere to be found. Needless to say you set off on your quest to discover her whereabouts, meeting a varied range of Silent Hill residents on your travels – some of which are more helpful than others.

SILENT HILL SHATTERED MEMORIES TRAILER |
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories boasts some impressive sequences of gameplay. At certain points of the game as you make your way around the streets of Silent Hill, the environment will freeze without warning and huge icey glaciers will rise from the ground to surround you, and those familiar pasty-white skinned creatures and beings begin to hunt you down, and escaping isn’t always easy!
As with previous titles in the series, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories manages to create a very eerie and constantly unsettling athmosphere thanks to it’s creepy visuals, horrific creatures and the nervy soundtrack which is fantastic throughout. Whether you are new to the series or a long-term fan, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is a brilliant game all round.
