With every big sporting event comes a range of officially licensed videogame counterparts, and the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics is no different! Will the videogame live up to the huge popularity of the Winter Games themselves?
Quite often an official video-game for such a huge sporting event falls flat on it’s face, but Vancouver 2010 looks set to break the mould with great visuals, all the events you would expect to find and perhaps most important of all a decent control setup on each of those events. It’s the controls which have let down similar titles in the past.

VANCOUVER 2010 WINTER OLYMPICS TRAILER |
Vancouver 2010 the videogame will be released on January 12th 2010, exactly one month before the Winter Olympic Games begin in Canada in February which is perhaps a little earlier than expected. Though it will give gamers a chance to familiarise themselves with each of the events that will be contested and their format – which will be great for spreading awareness of the Winter Olympic Games in general as it’s popularity has apparanted wained at previous events.
As with previous titles like this, the Bobsleigh event is likely to prove the most popular given the small margin-of-error it allows you, and the frantic speeds at which you find yourself flying downhill in your toboggan. Controlling the Bobsleigh event in Vancouver 2010 does include some light button-mashing to get your speed up, but from then on you must adjust the weight of two riders accordinly to keep yourself upright and on-track! Tricky, but brilliant fun whether you avoid crashing or not!
With everything taken into account, Vancouver 2010 promises to be the best videogame to represent a worldwide sporting event we’ve seen in decades! It looks graphically outstanding, breeds a sense of athmosphere from the outset and has all the events and competitive edge you could ask for. Worth buying for sure!
