Alan Wake

Many exciting games came out of the E3 2009 event, but few will match the response achieved by Alan Wake – a physcological thriller title developed by Remedy, and published by Microsoft Game Studios.

Although Alan Wake is now being publicised for all the right reasons, it has been criticised in the past because of the amount of time the game has spent in development. To give you some idea of how long that it, the first gameplay footage was actually announced at E3 way back in 2005! But thankfully after five long years, it looks like the wait is almost over and it promises to be worthwhile too.

Alan Wake puts you in the role of a guy named Alan Wake, weird huh? Alan is a best selling author of horror novels who finds himself struggling for inspiration, so he takes the decision to move to a quiet, tranquil town in the countryside with his beloved wife – but soon after, his wife goes missing.

From that point on Alan Wake will begin to suck you in and you will find yourself immersed in the action whether you like it or not. You will be scared, you will be on edge, but you will enjoy every single moment of it! The game plays out somewhat like a TV series, with parts of the storyline divided into visual, playable chapters – you’ll even get recaps on events that have recently passed which may seem strange, but it ties the storyline together nicely.

The storyline is strong, the characters and locations are intriguing, but Alan Wake‘s visuals and athmosphere cannot be done justice in text – you’ll have to experience those for yourself to appreciate just how good they are. It seems to push today’s consoles further than most other titles that’s for sure!

Alan Wake has no confirmed release date as yet, but is scheduled for the first quarter of 2010. Stay with Cheat Masters for a confirmed date on Alan Wake when it comes.
