Medal of Honor

The year 1999 saw the beginning of the Medal of Honor franchise, starting on the Playstation. Now more than a decade later the name has been somewhat forgotten in a highly saturated genre of the videogame industry, but it’s about to make a stunning comeback in a title yet again named simply, Medal of Honor.

The most popular game of 2009 was arguably Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, who’s development studio was setup by former developers behind some of the Medal of Honor series. Those developers that were left behind are now looking to hit-back with the re-jigged Medal of Honor title, pencilled in for a February 12th release date in Europe, but with no US date scheduled as yet.

This latest incarnation of Medal of Honor will be the first game to bare that name which is not set during World War II. This time round you’ll find yourself in the barron, war-torn environment that is Afghanistan – and playing as the Tier 1 Operators, possibly the most elite group within the US Special Forces.

Much like your playable characters in Medal of Honor, the full features of the game are rather shadowy and shrouded in mystery at this stage, despite the European launch being so close (assuming it isn’t delayed) – but from what has been made publically available so far we can say for sure that it’s set to match the visual quality of Modern Warfare 2, and promises to deliver a more realistic storyline which was one of the few flaws levelled at the Call of Duty title by critics.

Medal of Honor will boast both single player and multiplayer game modes as you would expect, with the single player element being developed by EA Los Angeles and the multiplayer modes being dealt with by DICE. With those two highly acclaimed development studios collaborating, this will certainly be a game worth experiencing for yourself. Keep your eyes on Cheat Masters for more on Medal of Honor!
