Strategy games fans can begin drooling now, as it’s been revealed that Blizzard have finally begun sending out invitations to gamers across the globe to take the hugely anticipated Starcraft 2 for a trial run in their now active closed beta.
For those of you who don’t know about the original Starcraft, it is probably the best real time strategy game ever created, despite the fact it last appeared in stores back in 1998. Yes the visual quality of games has come on leaps and bounds since then, but the overall game experience of anything released since the original Starcraft has not de-throned this classic in our opinion. Starcraft II will be a landmark event in the gaming industry, mark our words!

STARCRAFT 2: WINGS OF LIBERTY TRAILER |
Starcraft 2, by name alone, will stand head and shoulders above other strategy games but to further seporate itself from other franchises, Starcraft 2 will be released as three seporate games. How soon after one another they will be released is yet to be confirmed, but each individual title will focus on one of the three factions in the game which are the same that appeared in the original Starcraft.
Those factions are the Terrns, the Zerg and the Protoss. Each faction has their own strengths and weaknesses as you would expect from a game of this type, and although single player modes will be available, Starcraft 2 is designed largely around the new look Battle.net service which has been redeveloped for relaunch alongside this title and the more recent World of Warcraft titles.
Gaming industry analysts have already made the bold public prediction that sales of Starcraft 2 will hit 6 million without troubles, and the promise the game has shown through it’s pre-launch build up so far will only serve to backup those lofty insights.
It’s would be evil of us to spoil a game of this magnitude for you guys, so we’ll leave details of the storyline and new features to our future articles. What we are happy to reveal now though are the titles of the three titles in the Starcraft 2 line, which are Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty, Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void and Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm. The title should appear in stores sometime between April and July this year – check back with Cheat Masters for confirmed dates as they come, or follow us on Twitter or Facebook!
