Kratos is back in the latest of the awesome God of War series, God of War III, and it successfully delivers the epic action experience that is has been promising for the last few months.

If you aren’t familiar with the God of War series, where have you been? It has deservedly carved itself a reputation as being one of the leading action franchises around, and the release of God of War III re-affirms that status.

The events in God of War III take place immediately after what we saw in God of War II, and leaves you with no illusions regarding the sheer scale of this title and the environment that you find yourself in. Perched on the back of a giant rock-like creature you relentlessly battle hordes of undead enemies as your host makes his way slowly up the enormous mountainous terrain. To avoid spoilers we’ll leave the rest for you to discover.

Not a lot has changed since God of War II, but God of War III looks and feels so much more impressive from start to finish. The visuals have been noticably improved as have the character animations, and a few new moves have been thrown in to give the game a little bit of variety which it lacked before. Puzzles are less prominent in God of War III too, but do a great job of slowing the pace of the game right down at just the right moments before you are thrown once again into a ruthless battle.

Needless to say on your quest to find Zeus (your father who you intend to kill in revenge) you will come across other Gods, which act as the traditional action game bosses in God of War III. Each God has skills unique to them, but also a gruesome death sequence if you manage to get the better of them. God of War III boasts some of the most bloody and gory scenes you will have witnessed in a video-game – which only adds to the intense feeling of pleasure you feel when progressing through it!
