Following the success of Little Big Planet, ModNation Racers look set to take Sony’s play, create, share ethos to the next level with high levels of game customization being achieved with such ease, by gamers of various ages and levels of experience.
The play, create, share idea was always going to be a good one – co-operative gaming has never been more popular and with content sharing made possible on Playstation Network, it was a natural thing to offer gamers. Little Big Planet did it well, despite some initial problems, and shared content is still very much active today.

MODNATION RACERS TRAILER |
ModNation Racers takes a similar approach, but unlike in Little Big Planet, you should find that creating good content – in this case racing tracks – takes much less time than your LBP worlds did. This should encourage more players to give it a go, as not everyone had the patience to really get into LBP.
In ModNation Racers you lay your track by driving with almost limitless freedom across a barron environment, with your movement being noted as your tracks layout as you go. Once you’re ready, you can dive in and customize it from the track surface through to buildings and trees which line the barriers, powerups on the track itself and even build in shortcuts – and then you get the buzz of racing around it against some cool little opponents!
When you think you’ve made a track worth sharing, knock yourself out! It’s very easy to do. Don’t feel you have to though, as ModNation Racers offers enough as a standard single player racing game to keep everything to yourself if you wish.
ModNation Racers is released for the Playstation 3 and PSP on May 25th 2010.
