The skateboarding video game genre has been relatively competitive in recent years, especially since the introduction of the Skate series. The latest contender to enter the fray is Shaun White, who is generally more associated with Snowboarding!

Despite being an Olympic gold holding snowboarder, Shaun White is also a highly competent skateboarder too and wants his skating perspective on the world that we live in put across to and embraced by video gamers. Stairs are not just a way up or down, but a place of numerous possible skating manouvers of your choosing!

Though many details about Shaun White Skateboarding are a little sketchy at this stage, the facts we do not are enough to have us excited about finding out more at E3, which is now just around the corner! First of all, Shaun White Skateboarding will be appearing on PC, Playstation 3, XBox 360 and Nintendo Wii and is pencilled in for a fall 2010 release.

As far as the actual gameplay experience is concerned, we know that you as a skater of your own creation, will have the ability to change the environment around you from the dull and dreary landscape you are greeted with at the start of the game, into a thriving skaters paradise with rails, ramps and quarterpipes aplenty – but it’s the way this change happens that is most interesting.

As you roll around the streets pulling off various tricks and jumps to will accumulate a level of influence – and the higher your influence when you pass points of the environment, the more radical the changes you can apply to it! A plain boring roof-top suddenly spurning a huge ramp out of nowhere looks pretty cool, and also suggests that the world you skate within is not only changable to an incredible degree, but also has a lot of playable height too – and finding your way up to those higher points should prove enjoyable as well!
