Nintendo 3ds

Well today was a long day for all of us but here I am with some news and some confirmations on the things we thought :)

1—–3DS confirmed price

25,000.00 JPY = 298.924 USD

2—–3DS confirmed Release Date

The Nintendo 3DS will be released on JAPAN-February 26 2011

3DS will launch in North America/Europe-March 2011

The system will be available in Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black colors.

Which are, these two models, both looks great but I’m going to go with the black one just like my NDSlite, just in case you were wondering.

They are sexy, and don’t let anybody tell you otherwise

Moving onto the product itself it presents several changes from the old NDSlite, it will come with a 2GB SD Card included and also a kickass charging base to help the 24/7 connectivity of the console, it will be CONSTANTLY looking for updates, free games, applications for you to install and try! These are great new features, I mean I’m tired of looking for places to plug the transformer and dealing with the cord can get on your nerves sometimes, especially when it comes to packing for vacations or stuff like that.

3—–The games to follow up the release then are the following:

  • Resident Evil Revelations (Capcom)
  • Resident Evil Revelations (Capcom)(TOTALLY UNEXPECTED)
  • Samurai Warriors Chronicle (Tecmo Koei)
  • Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition (Capcom)
  • Sonic (Sega)
  • Rika-chan 3DS (Sega)
  • Animal Crossing (Nintendo)
  • Kid Icarus (Nintendo)
  • Star Fox 64 3D (Nintendo)
  • Paper Mario (Nintendo)
  • The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D (Nintendo)
  • Bomberman Series (Hudson)
  • Splinter Cell 3D (Ubisoft)
  • Super Robot Series (Namco Bandai)
  • Gundam Series (Namco Bandai)
  • Ridge Racer (Namco Bandai)
  • Harvest Moon 3D (Marvelous)
  • Mega Man Legends 3 (ALSO NEW!)

And a few other that you will be able to look up here in the vids added to the post, we can see some kind of Final Fantasy (there’s a guy riding a chocobo and that’s allways a good thing!) and some other strange Japanese things that will be surely unveiled with each passing month.

A great addition is the absolute confirmation of a Virtual Handheld!!! Yes! we will be able to play our old GBA and GBC titles hopefully in full screen size and with some sort of smoothing :) . This will also be paired (talking about the DSiWare) with the import of all your DSiStore points to your new 3DS. So worry not and don’t stop buying things since everything you acquire will be fully compatible with the new console. Oh bonus track?? Some of the old games ported via Virtual Console will be re-made in 3D (I mean added the 3D feel), good enough for you? Sure is for me.

There’s some…less important things too, such as the use of Mii avatars (you know the fugly things from Wii) which are now automatically generated by the 3DS camera, and the Augmented Reality Cards. These things (as you will see in the trailer posted below) use the Camera of the handheld in order to let you interact with your surroundings by showing you freaky things that comes around corners, from beneath the table, and stuff like that. Check the video, it’s got a better explanation than I can give.

So let’s do a Sum up here… The technical specs of the 3DS are still not confirmed, we can always trust in those strange leaks, I mean they’re usually right. Well unless you are that Accessories seller that won’t be getting more work for Nintendo. But there’s an important thing to say here, and it’s that the console looks, and plays like a dream, the gameplay videos are astonishing to say the least.

Also it features a HOME menu similar to the PSP function and apparently will be able to multitask to some degree. In the demos we can see a game pause, home key, open browser looking up a site, home key again and back into the game. That’s GREAT NEWS! I mean  most of the touch-thingies today can do it, but you know… the DS wasn’t known for it’s multitasking capabilities…

Alright people, more and more news will come up with every passing day, and you can trust me on this one. I will let you know EVERYSINGLEONEOFTHEM! Just keep visiting the blog and we’ll keep you informed! Doesn’t it feel better to know when the console is coming?? Hell I’m starting to save for this little beauty as we speak! And the pricing is just great!

Let me know dear readers, will you be buying the console when it comes out? Are you excited about it? C´mon! things just got real!! Today we start the countdown!!

That 1 hour conference had a lot more than I expected regarding the 3DS. ‘They are doing it right’ sort of speak, giving the little handheld a LOT of functionality for various situations. Right there you can already see that 99,99% of the Japanese will ‘have’ to buy it, so they can communicate and share everything with each other (virtually…as they are too shy and polite for the ‘real’ version)
So instead of for example Nintendogs being the ‘pet’ you carry in your bag, it will be the 3DS itself the pet; it’s a powerful feeling.

Regarding the core capability (gaming) it’s still a bit underpowered (similar to the 5 year old PSP), but it has many little perks (like the 3D camera) that makes it a great overall console.
Speaking of which, and to answer your question, I’m exited but will patiently wait for the new PSP announcement (it’s real) to see what that brings; but to be honest Sony will have a hard time creating a better experience; time will tell.

I mean, that ‘war’ between portables will be even more relevant in this iteration. Me and my friends are somewhat gamers and I can see we would be buying a portable each to enjoy and have fun on the group. That choice will be critical (and no, not all of them will be buying both)

Of course not. The chance of buying both comes once in a while around this side of the globe…but it can happen, and it’s a good experience to know what you really wanted, i had both consoles, i still have my NDS, my PSP turned into a VGA for my computer XD i preffer that kind of contrast between my games.

But, bottom line, yeah, time will tell. Either way, the gamers always win.
