That time of the year, the flowers bloom, babies cry, and the same 4 companies start pulling warfare shooters out of everywhere. Today it’s the turn for Medal Of Honor, yeah, that’s the name, Medal of Honor same one used on the first title back in the day.

This time we’re put in the shoes of a Tier 1 operator, the function of guys like Dusty and the rest of the gang it’s to scout ahead and do the kind of things the rest of the army doesn’t want to because it’s too hard or too dirty or whatever.

Let’s break this up shall we??

Graphics:

I see a double standard here, i mean the graphics looks great, the texture on the soldiers are awesome and we loved them, but then again, i cannot understand how come the guys in DICE responsible for the explosions in Bad Company 2 failed so hard to deliver the same feeling in this title. They look bland, with no debris flying around or people getting killed when you nuke a freaking building in their heads. Moving to character design, i don’t know the enemies looks weird to say the least, they’re talibans clearly, it doesn’t care how much you want to hide it EA, it’s there, they have turbans, the geography fits, and changing the name of the faction in the last minute fixes nothing. The model changes about 3 or 4 times, and it’s basically non acceptable in today’s gaming scene.

Score: 7

I know, we were expecting this too when we first played the game

Sound:

DICE always shine in this department, the voice acting it’s nice, but the bullets, the explosions, the engines it all sounds freaking amazing and absolutely realistic, if you’re lucky enough to have a 5.1 sound system (or even headphones) in your PC, then you will enjoy this title a hell of a lot more!

Story:

Mehhh i don’t know, it’s allways too easy i believe to make this kind of modern warfare titles, soldier on the field, bossy chair man somewhere safe, and in the middle a tough but gentle and lawfull military superior that tries it’s best to help you but he just can’t. We’ve seen this formula over and over again for many MANY years, it’s nothing to be surprised at, but well you know, at least is not totally irrational and we’re pretty sure that at least that happened in real life once. The units are well made and it’s an interesting approach on how the tier 1 operators work, at least they found a new way to tell this story from a perspective that wasn’t previously abused.

Gameplay:

Well the game it’s fun, i’ll give you that, it’s a fast paced action shooter that has some great level design sometimes and that falls into a bland gray area some other times. In the end the game will leave you with a bittersweet taste in your mouth and wondering if you just played Call of Duty, Bad Company or what the heck.
I mean it’s bigger problem can be summed up to this: It just looks a lot like many other games of the same genre, and that’s a tough thing to say, but it’s the true, and since im not being paid by EA nor Dice to boost they’re sales i will tell you the truth. The single player like i said features some nice backgrounds cover options, and some levels will be a hoot to play like the typical AC 130 Specter level. But c’mon another game featuring a mission involving the AC-130 gunship?? i mean we’ve seen that before, it has been done and it has been done extremely well the first time, why try to imitate it?? Anyway this only brings us to the next point while comparing games features with another titles. The AI of this game it’s absolutely and plain stupid, the enemies will just hide behind a wall and pop up to shoot in exact intervals of 5 seconds meaning that if you leave your sights in the same spot and count with your fingers you will be the king of headshots and be back for tea time.

This is the main issue, it looks like any other game

The multiplayer aspect of the game it’s actually another game, it’s tottally different and here we can see why DICE it’s behind this title, it feels a lot like BC2 in some aspects, but again there’s a lot of flaws. Im one of the guys that played the beta on Steam, i even get my veteran status thingies and stuff, i made it to LVL 6 sniper in a couple of days, and i must admit, i had fun, a lot, but, there’s always a but, the game let’s you down sometimes, for example, im a sniper, always had been always will, i’ll spend 5 minutes holding still beneath a column and snipe you without any kind of remorse, cry all you want i won’t stop camping. The thing is the game it’s actually pretty imbalanced with classes, you only have 3 classes to acces, Spec-Ops, Riflemen or Sniper, and let me tell you, the first two, are too damn similar. The sniper in the other hand doesn’t suffer from distance nor altitude, meaning the bullets WON’T FALL, you can take a shot at something standing 50 feets away from you, or 2.5 miles, and the aiming it’s the same, you put your crosshairs into the guys ear and that’s where the bullet will end. That my friends SUCKS, after playing Bad Company 2 for a long time i just hate to see that in so called “Realistic Modern Warfare” experiences, it’s physics for Christ sake!

New Clean Sweep mode, free for PC!

Bringing back the “it looks a lot like other games topic, the multiplayer it’s a mix between Bad Company 2 and Modern Warfare 2, the headshots will pop up in the screen like saying YEY! YOU ENDED ANOTHER LIFE HOORAY!! and the supports are earned in the same way they did in MW2, 5 kills, it’s one support, 6 kills another, 7 kills, you get the picture. In a nutshell? Mix any other modern warfare titles of this generation and you’ll get the multiplayer of the newest Medal Of Honor title.
