Hey guys, last week I reviewed the PC version of the latest Star Wars game, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. Go check it out if you didn’t already, anyway if you’re here it’s cause you saw the [DS] tag and you’re looking for buyers-advice, so, let’s find out.
I won’t try to lie or make this article longer than it’s supposed to be, it costs money to the site owner and takes away your precious time, so I’ll make this quick, since I’ve already talked about the history and general background of the game saga, I will skip all that and head directly to the items review:
GRAPHICS:
Well, it’s not like it’s the worst game I’ve ever seen on the DS, but let’s be honest, this is nothing of a surprise. The first game was horrible in terms of graphics and it’s sequel doesn’t fall very far from the tree. The game looks really old sometimes and quite good some other times, the video shorts can be choppy from time to time, and when a lot of enemies are on screen the game can suffer some pretty big slowdowns.
Score: 7
SOUND:
Surprisingly good, the lightsabers sounds great, the blasters echoes through the levels, the voice acting is actually cool and to hear voice acting in such a small device is always kinda cool isn’t it?? It’s a decent game in this aspect and as a matter of fact I think this is the highlight of the title. (A pretty lame result considering it’s supposed to be an action game)
Score: 8
STORY:
Since the story doesn’t change in any version of the game you can read all about it in this previous review for the PC VERSION of the game here
Score: 6
Some gameplay, watch it and you’ll understand
GAMEPLAY:
This is supposed to be the forte of the DS version I mean we have a freaking stylus and we could do crazy lightsaber thingies! No? Really? well yes and no, the lightsaber combos are actually quite limited in this version. They aren’t as closely huge and awesome as they can be in the PS3,X360 and PC versions of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II (even if it’s a cheap clone of God of War) they look good, they work ok but it isn’t enough to make us go crazy about em. The enemies are actually kind of lame, it’s like one giant Rock Paper Scissors game. Strong dude, use saber throw, quick dude, force grip, normal dude, force push, I mean it’s always the same and it’s like that all the way to the end. Which brings me to another point, the end isn’t that far away. The game lasts like 3 and a half hours so maybe you aren’t even tired of the sequence! Hey I think I got it! Anyway, you’ll be spending those hours bashing you poor touch screen with your stylus. So if you didn’t get a screen protector yet, and you plan to play this, well this is a good time to get one.
Score: 6
OVERALL SCORE: 5 (If you like it buy it, we warned you)
So, now you know, this is an interesting take since I did both reviews PC and DS being this two completely different games. I think it’s a good contrast even if the games aren’t that good. Well, see you guys next time.
@Greenmousa, out.
