Whats going on everyone, today in our Fallout New Vegas Side Quest Guide we are going to go through the Three Card Bounty side quest. Before we get started we need to talk about a few things. This is a NCR side quest and is recieved by talking to Mayor Dehatri in Camp McCarren. These are bounty missions and will require nice heads, so leave your companions behind as they can get excited and ruin the heads. Now we have broken this guide down into steps which if followed should give you no problem with this quest.

Speak to Mayor Dehatri

When talking to Mayor Dehatri he will talk about how he is having trouble with the Fiends. He will offer a bounty on three of their heads. Accept the bounty in any order and head out.

Get Cook-Cook’s head

Cook-Cook is located in Fiend Territory, North by Northwest of the Poseidon Gas Station. Fast Travel to the gas station, which is located East of Red Rock Canyon, and head North by Northwest until you see three friendly NPCs, which are Brahmin, and about 5 – 8 hostile NPCs, the Fiends and Cook-Cook, on your HUD. Cook-Cook has an Incinerator for long range attacks and a Flamer for close range combat. From here there is a few ways you can go about getting his head. Option 1 is killing Queenie, Queenie is one of the 3 friendly NPC’s. Killing Queenie will cause Cook-Cook to go crazy and start killing the other fiends resulting in either less people or the Fiends killing Cook-Cook. Option 2 is sniping Cook-Cook and the Fiends. This is pretty easy if you can snipe and have a good rifle on ya. Cook-Cook wears armor so get some armor piercing rounds and have at it. Just remember to go get the head. Option 3 is simply charge in like a maniac if thats your thing. Either way remember to get the head. After he is dead go through his inventory. You will see either Cook-Cook’s head or Cook-Cook’s mangled head. If it’s mangled reload and do it again it needs to be intact.

Return to Dehatri, collect bounty

Now head back to Camp McCarren and talk to Mayor Dehatri, tell him you have a bounty to collect and give him Cook-Cooks head and he will give you 250 Caps and 100 Exp. Now pick your next bounty unless you did Cook-Cook last.

Get Violet’s head

Violet is held up in a fort of old campers about 100 feet south of the Poseideon Gas Station. She typically carries a hunting rifle which can be lethal if you don’t have good armor or health. Instead of fiends as help she has about 8 dogs one of which is a special one named Violetta. The easiest way to take her is to get the dogs out of the way or else they could make killing her much more difficult. After she is dead search her inventory and get her non mangled head, if it’s mangled reload an old save and try again.

Return to Dehatri, collect bounty

Now head back to Camp McCarren and talk to Mayor Dehatri, tell him you have a bounty to collect and give him Violets head and he will give you 250 Caps and 100 Exp. Now pick your next bounty unless you did Violet last.

(Optional) Get snipers help

Once you tell Dehatri you want to kill Driver Nephi he will tell you he has been a problem and to go talk to Lieutenant Gorobets, who is located in Camp McCarren by the tents, outside of the main building. Tell him about your plans and he will offer the help of the First Recon Sniper team. If you enlist there help you will receive an additional 300 Caps upon completion.

Get Driver Nephi’s head

If you choose to use their help, and I don’t know why you wouldn’t, you’ll follow the Sniper team to the Samson Rock Crushing Plant. Once there head northwest till you see 6 hostile NPC’s. One of them is Driver Nephi, it would probably be smart to save here just in case the sniper team takes out Driver Nephi. So engage them and when the snipers start Nephi will come at you with his 9-Iron. Lure him close to the Rock Plant and the snipers will take him out. Get the un-mangled head and go to Lt. Gorobets to get 300 Caps.

Return to Dehatri, collect bounty

Now head back to Camp McCarren and talk to Mayor Dehatri, tell him you have a bounty to collect and give him Driver Nephi’s head and he will give you 250 Caps and 100 Exp. As long as he is the last bounty the quest is complete!

Notes

After killing Cook-Cook, you can talk to Corporal Betsy, located near or in the tents at Camp McCarren, about killing him and she will give you 360 NCR money.

Also, after killing Cook-Cook, you can talk to Pretty Sarah in Westside, in the Casa Madrid Apartments, about killing Cook-Cook and she will pay you 300 Caps. However, you have to talk to Marco, in front of the Casa Madrid Apartments, about her first.
