New Vegas is a dangerous area and sometimes the normal guns you come across might not cut it against the vicious bandits and mutants that wander the wasteland.

With this handy guide to finding the Unique Weapons in various places in New Vegas, you’ll be able to fend off the worst of the worst as unique weapons have better stats than most regular weapons.

This list is ordered by weapon type and because we know you want the best of the best, the weapons for each category are listed by damage. The higher the damage, the higher on the list!

Pistols

Ranger Sequoia

Description: A unique version of the hunting revolver, the Ranger Sequoia is carried by Veteran Rangers, the elite of rangers. Written along the barrel is, “For Honorable Service” on one side, while the other reads, “Against All Tyrants”.

Locations:

  1. Chief Hanlon at Camp Golf carries it. You can kill him, but he may not always have it on him if you do that, but it’s the easiest and quickest way.
  2. You can also do the Return to Sender quest and choose to turn Hanlon in at the end. He will lock himself up and kill himself. Quickly loot the gun off of him before a ranger comes in to guard his body.
  3. It can sometimes be found on Veteren Rangers. Kill them silently while hidden to receive no karma or reputation loss.


The Mysterious Magnum

Description: The Mysterious Magnum is a .44 magnum pistol that will play the Mysterious Stranger’s theme when drawn or holstered. When you have the perks Cowboy, Lady Killer (or Black Widow) and Hand Loader, the Mysterious Magnum has a base damage of 65

Locations:

  1. It is carried by The Lonesome Drifter who hangs in front of the Sunset Sarsaparilla billboard beside the highway. You can get the gun by passing a barter skill check (must have 50+ in Barter) when you hire him for the Talent Pool quest.
  2. Alternatively, you can attack him and shoot the gun out of his hand when he draws it. Grab the gun off the ground and leave the area, he will not be hostile when you return. The gun will be broken, but can be repaired with normal .44 Magnums.


Lucky

Description: Lucky is a unique .357 magnum revolver with a playing card club on its ivory handle.

Locations:

  1. Lucky can be found in the gift shop floor safe in the Bison Steve Hotel in Primm. It’s a Hard lock so it requires a 75 in the lockpicking skill.


Weathered 10mm Pistol

Description: This Weathered 10mm pistol does more damage than the average 10mm pistol found in the game and has been through years of use, making it look a little more worn than other guns.

Locations:

  1. It is only available by redeeming a Classic Pack pre-order code.


Maria

Description: A variant of the 9mm pistol, Maria has an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe on the handle.

Locations:

  1. Maria is carried by Benny, head of the Chairmen. To get the gun you must kill him or pickpocket him. It cannot be pick-pocketed if you confront him in the presidential suite at The Tops.

That Gun

Description: A futuristic-looking revolver and successor to the .223 pistol.

Locations:

  1. It can be purchased from Cliff Briscoe, or stolen from the storage room, at the Dino Bite Gift Shop in Novac. The lock to the storage room is Very Easy, or the key can be pick-pocketed from Cliff.

Rifles


This Machine

Description: Modeled after the M1 Garand, This Machine is a powerful .308 rifle.

Locations:

  1. To get This Machine, don’t turn in Contreras at the end of the quest, Dealing with Contreas, or if you do, get it from Carrie Boyd.
  2. This Machine can also be found on a Praetorian in Ceaser’s Tent


Gobi Campaign scout rifle

Description: The Gobi Campaign scout rifle is a unique sniper rifle that doesn’t degrade as quickly as other sniper rifles and uses less AP for V.A.T.S.

Locations:

  1. It’s in a Very Hard locked footlocker in Sniper’s Nest, west from Cottonwood Cove


Boone’s scoped hunting rifle

Description: A unique rifle carried by Craig Boone and can only be obtained through a bug.

Locations:

  1. Craig Boone is found in the mouth of the giant dinosaur in Novac at night. To get it, he must be a companion and exit a casino with you. You will receive the weapon, but cannot give it back to him and it may no appear in your inventory.


La Longue Carabine

Description: A unique version of the cowboy repeater, the La Longue Carabine reloads faster than the repeater and has a scope.

Locations:

  1. It is carried by Corporal Sterling at Camp McCarran. The easiest way to get it is by killing Corporal Sterling. Or, attack him to make him draw it and shoot it from his hand.


All-American

Description: The All-American is a unique version of the marksman carbine with a better scope than the standard carbine.

Locations:

  1. The All-American can be found in the armory of Vault 34.


Ratslayer

Description: The Ratslayer is a unique version of the varmint rifle, but has higher stats and all possible varmint rifle mods (including extended mags, night scope and a silencer) built in.

Locations:

  1. The Ratslayer can be found in Broc Flower Cave on a desk, or on the floor.


Lily’s assault carbine

Description: Lily’s assault carbine looks like a normal assault carbine, but has a suppressor attached, except when you get it. Despite the suppressor disappearing when using it, it acts as if it’s still there.

Locations:

  1. You can only get it using console commands. Command: player.additem 00174093 0


Abilene Kid LE BB Gun

Description: The Abilene Kid LE BB Gun is a more powerful version of the BB gun with a much better critical bonus, doing nearly as much damage with a critical hit as a hunting rifle

Locations:

  1. The Abilene Kid LE BB Gun can be found in Fields’ Shack, near Nellis Air Force Base.

SMGs

Vance’s 9mm SMG

Description: Vance’s 9mm SMG has higher stats than the standard 9mm SMG

Locations:

  1. It can be found in Wins Hideout inside a safe with a Very Hard lock. If your Speech skill is 55 or higher, you can talk to Wins and convince him to give you the combination to the safe, otherwise you need a high lockpick skill to get in.

Shotguns


Big Boomer

Description: Big Boomer is a sawed-off shotgun that fires both shells at once and deals a hefty amount of damage

Locations:

  1. Big Boomer can be found on Old Lady Gibson, who lives in Gibson Scrapyard. You can kill her to take the gun, or cause her to draw it by attacking her and shoot it out of her hand.


Dinner Bell

Description: Dinner Bell is a slightly more powerful, unique version of the hunting shotgun

Locations:

  1. It’s given to you as a reward for finishing the quest, Bleed Me Dry.


Sturdy Caravan Shotgun

Description: a more durable variation of the normal caravan shotgun

Locations:

  1. It can only be obtained by pre-order from various retailers

Heavy Weapons


CZ57 Avenger

Description: A stronger version of the minigun, the CZ57 Avenger has high damage and good range

Locations:

  1. It can be found in The Devil’s Throat at the irradiated cater that can be seen on your map. It is next to a body inside a blue truck in the center of the crater.
