Batman: Arkham Asylum Riddler Challenges

The Riddler Challenges in Batman: Arkham Asylum can be a daunting task, there are a lot of them and they can be tricky, but that’s why we are here.

The guide will be broken down by the two levels in which the challenges can be found. The challenges come in different forms such as,

1. Joker Teeth – These toy teeth wander around the floor and must be smashed with a batarang.

2. Interview Tape – Circular discs which hold taped conversations with Arkham’s super criminals.

3. Spirit of Arkham – Stone slabs with a picture of a beetle. Examine in detective mode to unravel a mystery.

4. Trophy – Question mark shaped items to be picked up.

5. Riddles – The Riddler will ask a question leading you to examine an item or area. These appear on-screen when you are in the right area.

6. Question marks – You will be asked to look at the area from a certain perspective and locate a question mark which is only visible in detective mode.

7. Mystery – This is a map revealing the location of all the secrets in the area. Note that the Joker Teeth are not shown, you have to find these on your own but they should be found as you follow the story. Also remember that the map does not indicate how high up or low down the challenge is, you will have to use your initiative, or this guide.

10. Trophy – On top of a room on the left of Decontamination, behind a security gate. Cryptographic Sequencer required.

11. Riddle
In Transfer Loop, crawl under a Emergency Shutdown sign to examine a picture of the Penguin.

12. Riddle
Examine the wall covered in question marks, in the North-East cell in Holding Cells

13. Mystery – In a room at the very bottom of Secure Transit

14. Trophy – In an upper crawl space, seen from the East entrance of the Processing Corridor.

15. Trophy – Behind a grate against the North wall as you descend Secure Transit, Ultra Batclaw required.

16. Riddle
Stand on top of the lift at the very bottom of Secure Transit and look up to the crawl space above. In here is a room with blueprints on the wall for you to examine.

17. Riddle
Examine the picture of Aaron Cash’s family on the desk of his office, by the South-East exit from Cell Block Transfer.

18. Int. Tape – In a small room in the Lobby.

19. Trophy – Behind a grate on the Southern wall of the Patient Purification Chamber.

20. Trophy – In a small room in Secure Transit.

21. Riddle
Behind a destructible wall in the South-East corner of Patient Purification Chamber. Examine the pictures on the wall.

22. Int. Tape – In the control room in Secure Transit.

23. Int. Tape – In a small room in the North-West of Cell Block Transfer. Cryptographic sequencer with the range amplifier upgrade (19) required.

24. Trophy – Behind a grate, just South of the two cells on the right side of Holding Cells.

25. Trophy – Behind a grate in the North-West corner of the Patient Purification Chamber, Ultra Batclaw required.

26. Riddle

Find the ? mark in the window of the building in the middle of the Lobby. Line it up with the dot on the South wall and examine.

27. Int. Tape – In a room at the lower level of Secure Transit, where you destroy the lift controls.

28. Int. Tape – In a room on the left of Decontamination, behind a security gate. Cryptographic Sequencer required.

29. Trophy – Behind a destructible wall as you leave he Lobby, heading for Arkham East. Explosive Gel required.

30. Trophy – In the crawl space used to re-enter Intensive treatment, Line Launcher required.

1. Trophy – On the highest ledge of the clock tower on the Mansion roof.

2. Trophy – In a small hut within the graveyard.

3. Trophy – In a small building beside the large statue of the Warden, cryptographic sequencer required.

4. Trophy – Found under a destructible floor, North of the entrance to Arkham Mansion. Explosive Gel required.

5. Trophy – Go left, passed the Mansion entrance and go to an upper ledge. It is behind a pillar.

6. Trophy – On a low roof on top of the Mansion. South-West of the clock tower.

7. Trophy – On top of the Mansion, on a low roof, North of the clock tower.

8. Trophy – Hidden in bushes, just North-East of the entrance for the Botanical Gardens.

9. Trophy – On top of the guard tower next to the Botanical Gardens entrance.

10. Trophy – On a small pier at the Southern edge of the area.

11. Int. Tape – In the corridor that links the walkways of the two guard towers, cryptographic sequencer required.

12. Int. Tape – In the guard tower with the light on top of it.

13. Mystery – In a small building near the large Warden statue, cryptographic sequencer required.

14. Trophy – In the corridor that links the walkways of the two guard towers, cryptographic sequencer required.

15. Riddle
In the graveyard, there is an open grave where you see a coffin. Examine the tombstone.

16. Destroy 10 Joker Teeth.

17. Spirit – Behind a low wall on the left side of the entrance to the Mansion.

18. Spirit – Behind a destructible wall under the steps leading to the Botanical Gardens.

19. Riddle
Go to the North-East corner of the island and zoom in on the Wayne Enterprises building across the water and examine it.

20. Riddle
Scale to the top of the clock tower on the Mansion roof and go to the south side. Line up the ? mark below with the dot on the ledge on which you stand, in detective mode.

Return to Top Arkham Island, North

1. Trophy – On the East side of the area, accessed from the nearby guard tower. Line Launcher required.

2. Trophy – Behind a destructible wall, high up on the West side of the area. Ultra Batclaw required.

3. Trophy – Under a destructible floor beside the Batmobile. Explosive Gel required.

4. Trophy – In a ruined building in the middle of the map.

5. Trophy – Behind a security gate at the Northern tip of the area. Requires the cryptographic sequencer with the amplified range upgrade (No.19).

6. Riddle
On the underside of the doorway to a ruined building. The dot is on a ceiling inside, so stand outside to line it up.

7. Trophy – I an alcove to the East of the entrance for Intensive Treatment.

8. Trophy – On the roof of Intensive treatment, just West of the entrance.

9. Trophy – Right beside you when you land after taking out Poison Ivy.

10. Trophy – Behind a destructible wall in a passage, South-East of Intensive Treatment. Ultra Batclaw required.

11. Riddle
In a small building near Intensive Treatment, examine the posters of Dent on the wall. Cryptographic sequencer required.

12. Trophy – On top of the guard tower which has no light on top of it.

13. Mystery – Destroy the roof of the small building next to the Batmobile and the secrets map is inside. Explosive gel required.

14. Spirit – Enter the tunnel beside Intensive Treatment on your way to the Batcave to find this.

15. Spirit – Up on a ledge inside ruins to the North-West.

16. Riddle

Examine the see-saw at the Northern tip of the map.

17. Trophy – Behind a destructible wall along your path to the Batcave for the first time.

18. Destroy 10 Joker Teeth.

19. Int. Tape – In a small building near Intensive Treatment, cryptographic sequencer required.

20. Int. Tape – Inside the guard tower.

Return to Top Arkham Island, West

1. Trophy – Behind a very high destructible wall at the Northern side of the passage between Arkham West and North, Ultra Batclaw required.

2. Trophy – Low down, just South of the Northern exit from the area.

3. Trophy – In a crawl space beside the entrance to the Penitentiary, behind a grate. Batclaw required.

4. Trophy – On the roof at the southern tip of the Medical Facility.

5. Trophy – From the Northern corner of the Medical Facility roof, look North-East to spot a platform with the trophy. Line Launcher required.

6. Trophy – Behind a security gate, above the entrance to the Penitentiary. Cryptographic sequencer with the range amplifier upgrade (No 19) required.

7. Trophy – On the roof of a building next to a pier to the West.

8. Trophy – Destroy the lift control panel in front of Medical to make it raise and reveal the trophy, cryptographic sequencer required.

9. Trophy – Behind a grate in the area between West and North Island. Above air vents, Batclaw required.

10. Trophy – Above a destructible floor at the West entrance to Arkham East.

11. Trophy – In bushes underneath the guard tower.

12. Trophy – In the Abandoned Tunnel, look up to find a ledge to grapple up to. Destroy the floor and access the trophy, which is seen behind bars from ground level.

13. Mystery – In a small room in the middle of this area, cryptographic sequencer required.

14. Int. Tape – In the small building beside the L-shaped pier.

15. Destroy 10 Joker Teeth.

16. Trophy – Above the exit to Arkham North, on a small platform.

17. Riddle
In the same area as trophy No.6. Examine the dead men sat at a table.

18. Riddle
Examine the gas canisters found behind a destructible wall, high up near the East entrance. Ultra Batclaw required.

19. Riddle
Climb up to the Western entrance of the Penitentiary and look for the ? mark below, in detective mode. Line it up with the dot on the wall in front.

20. Spirit – Underneath the Penitentiary entrance, behind a destructible wall. Explosive Gel required.

Return to Top Medical Facility

1. Int. Tape – In a room behind a security gate to the South in Secure Access, Cryptographic Sequencer required.

2. Int. Tape – On a desk, just inside the entrance.

3. Riddle Remove the grate beside the Elevator door in Secure Access. Follow the tunnel into the nearby room and examine the posters of Joker on the wall. Ultra Batclaw required.

4. Riddle
In the Surgery Room, climb to the upper area and examine the board full of names.

5. Spirit – Under a destructible floor on the left side of the middle level of the sanatorium.

6. Int. Tape – In the North-East corner of the Sanatorium, on a desk.

7. Int. Tape – In Patient Observation, enter the room where the two people were hiding, after releasing the gas.

8. Riddle Closely examine the teddy bear on the table to the left as you enter the Experimental Chamber.

9. Riddle A ? mark is found under a destructible floor on the left side of the middle level. Examine from above.

15. Spirit – Behind a destructible wall, directly above the entrance in the X-Ray Room.

16. Trophy – In the crawl spaces used to rescue Gordon in the Experimental Chamber.

17. Trophy – Behind a destructible wall in the bottom right corner of the sanatorium. Also accessible via a crawl space to the left.

18. Trophy – Behind a grate, along the East wall in Patient Observation.

19. Riddle In the Morgue, examine the jar of shark teeth sitting on top of a trolley.

20. Destroy 20 Joker Teeth.

21. Trophy – In a small room accessed through the crawl space used when you first enter the area.

22. Trophy – On the roof of the room where Harley Quinn has Gordon in the Experimental Chamber.

23. Trophy – Behind a grate in the North-East corner of the Sanatorium, Ultra Batclaw required.

24. Riddle Examine the skeleton which sits in a broken cage on the bottom level of the sanatorium.

25. Destroy 5 Joker Teeth.

26. Trophy – Upstairs, behind a security gate in the Surgery Room. Cryptographic Sequencer required.

27. Trophy – On top of the building in the middle of the X-Ray Room.

28. Trophy – In a Northern room in Secure Access that is locked by 2 security gates. Access by a destructible wall on the North side, Ultra Batclaw required.

29. RiddleExamine the plaque on the North wall, near the entrance of the Foyer. It mentions Bruce Wayne.

4. Trophy – On a ledge at the Southern tip of the Old Sewer, Line Launcher required.

5. Trophy – When you leave the Batcave after the plant attack, this on is at the bottom of the first area you glide to.

6. Int. Tape – In Control Room Access.

7. Int. Tape – On the floor beside an orderly’s body in Old Sewer.

8. Trophy – Above a destructible floor by the exit leading to the Batcave, in Old Sewer. Ultra Batclaw required.

9. Trophy – From the platform covered in water, go up the slope and grab the ledge on your left. Shimmy around to the other side and climb up to the trophy.

10. Trophy – On a ledge as you ascend in Main Sewer Junction, cannot be missed. Line Launcher required.

11. Int. Tape – On an oil barrel as you head North out of the Pump Control Room.

13. Mystery – On a table beside the wall you destroy to get into the Pump Control Room.

14. Trophy – In Main Sewer Junction, beside the platform covered with running water.

15. Trophy – At the very top in Main Sewer Junction, opposite the destructible wall. Look to the South-West and down to see the trophy on a ledge below. Line Launcher required.

16. Spirit – At the Southern tip of the Old Sewer.

17. Destroy 5 Joker Teeth.

18. Trophy – Behind a grate, near the Eastern exit of the Old Sewer. Ultra Batclaw required.

19. Trophy – On a small, stand-alone platform to the North of the areas you jump around getting from the Batcave to the Island surface.

20. Trophy – In the East corner of Croc’s Lair, Line Launcher required.

21. Spirit – Behind a destructible wall on the South side of the Control Room, Ultra Batclaw required.

22. Destroy 20 Joker Teeth.

23. Trophy – Above a destructible floor at the West exit from Croc’s Lair, Ultra Batclaw required.

24. Trophy – In Main Sewer Junction, get to the platform opposite the exit for Arkham North. Face East and look down to see this one.

25. Trophy – Behind a destructible wall outside the West Pump Room, Ultra Batclaw required.

26. Spirit – Behind a destructible wall as you make your way out of the caves, towards Arkham West.

27. Riddle Right above where you find trophy No.9. The ? is on a platform above and the dot should be in front of you. Line up and examine, Line Launcher required.

28. Trophy – Behind a destructible wall on the North side of the Control Room.

29. Trophy – To the left of the Southern entrance of Main Sewer Junction, Line Launcher required.

30. Trophy – In the North-East corner of Main Sewer Junction, find the ledge to grab and shimmy around and climb up. This is at the same level as the entrance.

1. Riddle Stand on the ledge above the air vents in the middle of South Corridor and look down to the opposite wall to see the ? mark. The dot is on the edge of the ledge on which you stand.
2. Riddle Examine the display case with a top hat and umbrella inside, near the Northern exit from South Corridor.

3. Spirit – Climb up to the air vents in the middle of South Corridor and it is behind a destructible wall, Explosive Gel required.

4. Spirit – Climb up to the ledge at the Northern end of Main Hall.

5. Spirit – Behind a destructible wall in the Entrance Hall, Explosive Gel required.

6. Riddle Examine the display case containing a doll at the Southern wall of the Warden’s Office.

7. Riddle Examine the photo of Gordon on the wall beside the Eastern exit from Main Hall.

8. Destroy 5 Joker Teeth.

9. Destroy 20 Joker Teeth.

10. Int. Tape – In a small room to the North in Main Hall.

11. Riddle In Dr. Young’s Office, examine the toe-tag sticking out from a body bag along the Western wall

13. Mystery – Map is on a table at the Southern wall of the Warden’s Office.

16. Riddle In a small cell towards the top of North Corridor. Accessed via a crawl space, examine the circles drawn on the wall.

17. Riddle Examine the display case wit Catwoman’s ears and gloves in it. Found in the corner opposite the entrance to East Wing Corridor.

18. Trophy – In a side room to the left side of the Records Room. Accessed via a crawl space. Batclaw required.

19. Trophy – On the upper level of North Corridor, accessed via a crawl space.

4. Trophy – In cell No.5 in Extreme Incarceration. Destroy the control panel in the control room to open this. Cryptographic Sequencer required.

5. Trophy – Above the entrance to the Guard Room, accessed via a crawl space to the South, Batclaw required.

6. Trophy – Behind a destructible wall by the Southern exit of the Main Cell Block, Explosive Gel required.

7. Trophy – In a cell along the Southern wall, in the Western section of the Main Cell Block.

8. Trophy – In an upstairs cell in the North of the Security Control Room, cryptographic sequencer required.

9. Trophy – To get this, climb on top of the air vents in the Southern part of the Guard Room. Destroy the wall in front of you and the one across the room as well, the trophy is on the Northern side. Explosive Gel, Ultra Batclaw and Line Launcher required.

10. Trophy – In the last toilet cubicle on the left side in Cells Access.

11. Riddle Examine the cell along the North wall in the Western section of the Main Cell Block.

12. Riddle From the North side of the Guard Room, where you find trophy No.9, turn South and align the ? mark with the dot and examine.

13. Mystery – Under the control room in Extreme Incarceration.

14. Int. Tape -In the control room, upstairs in Extreme Incarceration.

15. Int. Tape – In the small area to the South in the Guard Room.

16. Riddle Examine the ice-covered, cell No. 4, in Extreme Incarceration.

17. Riddle In a cell to the South of the Security Control Room, examine the prisoner.

18. Riddle Examine the machine gun on the wall of the upper level of the Main Cell Block.

19. Int. Tape – On the desk in front of you as you enter Cells Access.

20. Int. Tape – In the North-West corner of the upper level in the Main Cell Block.

21. Riddle Examine the poster of Harvey Dent in a cell along the Southern wall in Controlled Access.

22. Riddle On the ground floor of the Guard Room, after you clear the gas, find the Prometheus poster on an Eastern wall and examine.

23. Riddle Examine the mirror found in the toilets, to the right side of Cells Access.

24. Int. Tape – In the Eastern corner, upstairs in Controlled Access.

25. Destroy 5 Joker Teeth.

26. Spirit – Destroy the wall at the back of cell No.5 to find this.

27. Spirit – In the South-West corner of the Guard Room, on the ground floor. Behind a destructible wall Explosive Gel required.

28. Spirit – At the end of an electrified tunnel, where trophy No.6 is found, at the Southern exit from the Main Cell Block.

1. Riddle Examine the tea set in the North-West corner of Glasshouse Entrance.

2. Riddle Examine the plaque on the bench in front of you as you enter Statue Corridor from Botanical Glasshouse.

3. Int. Tape – On a bench at the Eastern wall of the Aviary.

4. Int. Tape – In Glasshouse Generator Room.

5. Destroy 5 Joker Teeth.

6. Riddle n the Ventilation System, underneath a grate, there is a pair of gloves and a gas mask. Examine.

7. Riddle On an upper platform in Abandoned Chamber. Half of the ? mark is on the Northern tip of the ledge you stand on, with the rest, on the platform below.

8. Int. Tape – On a bench to the East side of Glasshouse Entrance.

9. Int. Tape – On a bench, on the right side of Statue Corridor.

10. Destroy 20 Joker Teeth.

11. Riddle Examine the bench with the broken toy soldiers in the Flooded Corridor.

12. Riddle Examine the small plaque under a statue at the Eastern exit of the Flooded Corridor.

13. Mystery. – Behind a security gate, high up in Glasshouse Generator Room. Cryptographic Sequencer with range amplifier upgrade (No.19) required.

19. Trophy – Under the Main floor in the middle of Abandoned Chamber. Access from a ground access tunnel to the North.

20. Trophy – Inside a ground access tunnel, on the middle level in Botanical Glasshouse.

21. Spirit – Behind a destructible wall, to the left of the exit from Titan Production Facility. Ultra Batclaw and Line Launcher required.

22. Trophy – In the Ventilation System leading out from the Flooded Corridor.

23. Trophy – In an alcove behind a destructible wall at the bottom of Botanical Glasshouse.

24. Trophy – Near the Western exit from the Flooded Corridor, Line Launcher required.

25. Trophy – In the South-East corner, at the bottom of Abandoned Chamber. Access by a tunnel to the North.

26. Spirit – Up top in the North-West corner in Abandoned Chamber, to the left off a ledge to shimmy across.

27. Spirit – Find this as you take the alternate path created by Ivy’s plants

28. Trophy – Visible from the North entrance in Abandoned Chamber. Access from the South, by finding the platform which is lowered by cutting a rope. Line Launcher required.

29. Trophy – In an alcove to the right of the exit from Titan Production Facility, Line Launcher required.

30. Trophy – In Glasshouse Generator Room, to the left of Secrets map (13 – Mystery).
