Well…remember how I said that removing the DSi of the production line was a good idea? Just when I was getting my hopes up for Nintendo they drop a bomb like this.Shocking isn’t it?? Region locking a console? Sometime I wonder if Gaming companies actually want their products to get hacked. I mean…you know this will get bypassed whether Nintendo wants it or not. As a matter of fact I start to see this kind of measure as a form of provocation to pirates out there.

Anyway for us non pirates…what this will mean?? Basically buying imports will no longer be an option and neither will be bringing a 3DS from Japan on release date. I mean yeah you will have it earlier but it will only run on that region games, which actually kind of sucks…

What do you guys think? Do you import? Do you even care?? Do you know what region locked means? I honestly think this is a desperate attempt from Nintendo to prevent the hacking of the console. Let’s face it guys, it’s inevitable. So far Ps3 was the safest platform and look what happened…now it’s wide open. Also Nintendo is one of the companies that benefited the most from piracy. The consoles they make sells the amount they do because they’re great AND because they are so easy to bypass for pirates. So this is a weird hate-love relationship…even if Nintendo is obliged to say they don’t approve it.

Till next week
