Left 4 Dead 2 is an extremely popular zombie first person shooter released by Valve Entertainment. The first game released a few years back was quite a shocker and such a huge success that Valve decided to release a sequel just a year after. The result was something that should have been just made into an expansion, but similarly Left 4 Dead 2 was still quite a shocker and joy ride.
Recently, Valve announced that it will be releasing a downloadable content package for its 28 Days Later inspired video game. Three new maps will be included in the package, as well as a community map that is still in the testing stage.
The level is called Cold Stream, which is being developed by Matthew Lourdelet who fans will remember from the previous 2 Evil Eyes campaign missions. A beta test of the new map will be coming pretty soon for the players to test.
Veteran players will also be quite happy with Valve’s decision to port the maps from the first Left 4 Dead game to Left 4 Dead 2. Death Toll, Dead Air and Blood Harvest will all be included in the DLC, as the No Mercy campaign has already been ported earlier.
There is still no concrete date as to when the DLC is going to be available. Valve is notorious for doing so. They would normally confirm a date when it is fast approaching. According to the company blog though, the DLC will more or less be released sometime after the release of the much anticipated Portal 2. Also according to the blog, the real release date of everything that comes from Valve is “when it’s ready”.
Left 4 Dead 2 is still being played online extensively by both PC and Xbox 360 owners. The DLC will be available on both versions of the game.
