Just recently THQ released WWE Legends of Wrestlemania. It scored quite well with the critics, especially due to the increasing list of features. From wandering around the locker room and backstage area, to beating an opponent to a pulp right on the mat, the game simply gives you the feel of actually being in the WWE. Well, if you thought WWE Legends of Wrestlemania is the best wrestling game ever to be released, you were wrong.
The new WWE: All Stars is THQ’s latest addition to the WWE video game franchise. First and foremost on the list of its features is the mega makeover of the game characters. Wrestlers are now beefed up, giving it a more ludicrous, outlandish look and feel. They are just waiting to be thrown into the ring and just beat someone or even something to a bloody mess!
Though it might seem like just another button masher game, WWE: All Stars adds a touch of finesse to the game by adding a few new features. By pressing a couple of button combinations, a player can perform a reversal move depending on the situation. Wrestlers are now separated into different fighting types: Brawler, Grappler, Acrobat and Big Man – each separated by their unique styles in the ring.
WWE: All Stars also features both a Story Mode and a Path of Champions Mode which will even cater to your own, custom made wrestlers. These modes include the freedom of hitting someone in the backstage area, exploring the locker rooms, etc… You can change various reputations with other wrestlers and or factions, make or break friendships, etc… It just feels like you are actually in the WWE! The game might seem like just another wrestling game, but it’s definitely something worth trying, especially to those who enjoy a good fighting game.
Overall, WWE: All Stars is a must try for everyone who enjoys beat ‘em up games. If you’re a big WWE fan then you most certainly will have already reserved a copy online for the April release. If you’re into men in tight, latex underwear beating it up on the mat, then go buy this game! If you’re into bloody, gory, fights with unique twists and rules, then WWE: All Stars is certainly as must try! The game will be available on all the major current-gen consoles, plus the PSP and Playstation 2.
