Bulletstorm is such a cool game in that it takes the concept of achievements to a whole new level. Since the game is so closely tied in to the “skillshots”, it’s imperative that you get used to the system in order to finish the single player campaign.
Here are a few things to help you improve your in-game killing spree.
Don’t just shoot, use skillshots
The point of this game is to kill enemies creatively, so just shooting them the old fashioned way will not give you the biggest bang for your buck. Since you need points to buy new weapons and ammo, as well as upgrade your equipment, you survival in-game rests in your ability to do more than just shoot.
A good way to go about this is to learn the most common skillshots you can do and use them in combination with each other. Use your kick and leash constantly to keep things from getting too dull.
Be aware of the environment
Watch out for key environmental features like drops, spikes, certain metallic objects, man-eating plants, explosives, and so on. These can be used on the spot to get extra points that can get you that new weapon, that next upgrade, or some ammo in those desperate times.
The most common environmental skillshots are Vertigo, Environ-mental, Voodoo Doll, Spiked, and so on. Watch out for them at all times during the game.
The Thumper is your best friend
When you get this, get it upgraded and fill it up with charges right away because it will payoff and can be used in almost any situation. Blow them all sky high and put them in suspended animation for easy pickings. Just don’t abuse it too much at one location since it costs 500 points per charge, so make the most of each one. The objective is to get way more than 500 points per use.
Use the Thumper on multiple opponents in the immediate vicinity for best effect. Chances are that you’ll get some environmental kills without realizing it. If not, vaporize them all with a charges shotgun blast, hit them with something explosive, or give them another Thumper for a Slam Dunk.
Fire charged shots
While limited in capacity, your weapons’ charged shots are all quite powerful. Each weapon has a different charged shot, so study them well. For example, the Peacemaker fires a powerful round that vaporizes enemies, while the Screamer shoots an incendiary flare that sets them on fire. These help you pull off combos for more points.
Use explosive weapons for mobs
Take note that the explosive weapons here are a bit different than in most games. There’s the Flail Gun, which attaches exploding collars on enemies, while the Bouncer Cannon fires something like an explosive basketball that blows up when you release the attack button.
Both of these can do some serious damage and rack up Gangbang and other skillshots. They work great with environmental skillshots too.
Make the most of minibosses
Try to get all the possible skillshots from minibosses. Aside from the 250 points you can get when you kill one, you can also do some interesting things like decapitating him in several different ways and even shooting him up the ass.
Shoot lone enemies in the head, throat, or balls
Don’t waste you’re bullets just because there’s only one enemy left. A head, throat, or crotch shot does wonders. In fact, you can shoot an enemy in the balls, then kick his head off when he kneels down in pain — that’s the Mercy skillshot.
Keep checking your skillshot list
Always try to unlock new ones and review old ones to refresh your memory and keep track of your point-hording progress.
