Hi guys, let’s do a little guide for those of you who are new to the franchise. I will let you know a few things about the game, to get started with it, and to have a better chance of succeeding from the get go.So let’s get our poké-mooth on and start this guide! Jump in!

Return to Top BLACK AND WHITE DIFFERENCES

Every pokémon game comes in pairs (well except yellow) and each one of them had pokémons that you can’t get so basically you’ll need both games to catch them all. Or if you’re smart, a friend will have the other one and you’ll be able to trade them with each other. Here’s the list of the pokémons that appears in one game or the other. This will come in handy when you are still deciding which copy of the game you’ll be picking. If you already did, this will let you find out which ones you’ll need to trade:

Black only – Pre-National Dex White only – Pre-National Dex
Cottonee – Grass Petilil – Grass
Whimsicott – Grass Lilligant – Grass
Gothita – Psychic Solosis – Psychic
Gothorita – Psychic Duosion – Psychic
Gothitelle – Psychic Reuniclus – Psychic
Vullaby – Dark/Flying Rufflet – Normal/Flying
Mandibuzz – Dark/Flying Braviary – Normal/Flying
Tornadus – Flying Thundurus – Electric/Flying
Reshiram – Dragon/Fire Zekrom – Dragon/Electric
Black only – National Dex White only – National Dex

Paras – Bug/Grass Shroomish – Grass
Parasect – Bug/Grass Breloom – Grass/Fighting

Return to Top STARTER POKÉMONS

Moving on, you’re now sure of the game you picked right? Or at least you know what you won’t be getting from your game. Either way that’s a good thing, remember he-man, knowing is half the battle!

So you started a new game, and story aside, you know this moment is coming, the 3 starter pokémons will sit in front of you, and you’ll have to make the choice of a lifetime. Let me give you a hand with that…

Snivy

  • Type: Grass
  • Ability: Overgrow
  • Base Stats: 45 HP, 45 ATK, 55 DEF, 63 SPD, 45 SPATK, 55 SPDEF
  • Starting Moves: Tackle, Leer

The weakest of the bunch, but curiously the more picked in the polls. It’s grass type and it’s fast with good defenses, but that’s that…it’s the most difficult one to play with at first. Its type is weak against 4 of the 8 Gym Leaders (Fire, Bug, Flying, Ice), resistant against 2 (Electric, Ground), and super effective against 1 (Ground).

Tepig

  • Type: Fire
  • Ability: Blaze
  • Base Stats: 63 HP, 65 ATK, 45 DEF, 45 SPD, 45 SPATK, 45 SPDEF
  • Starting Moves: Tackle, Tail Whip

The tank is here, it’s the fire one which is always my choice anyway. He’s the best at HP and DEFENSE and as the game goes he’ll gain a second type (becoming FIRE/FIGHTING) so it will be more effective (and weak) to other types. This means it is effective against 3 Gyms (Normal, Bug, Ice), weak against 3 (Water, Ground, Flying), and resistant against 2 (Bug, Ice).

Oshawott

  • Type: Water
  • Ability: Torrent
  • Base Stats: 55 HP, 55 ATK, 45 DEF, 45 SPD, 63 SPATK, 45 SPDEF
  • Starting Moves: Tackle, Tail Whip

Oshawott is the Water starter and based off of a Sea Otter. This ugly little fellow is the balanced one. It has a good Special attack in addition to an OK defense and HP base. Being a Water type, it is super effective versus 1 Gym (Ground), weak to 2 Gyms (Electric, Grass), and resistant against 1 Gym (Ice).

Usually your all time rival in every other pokémon guide will choose the pokémon you’re weak against just to bash your head in, you know, fun? Good times? Whatever… this time around it’s not like that. You have 2 best friend instead of one, so guess what? That’s right you little grasshopper! One of them will pick the pokémon that will 1 hit KO yours every single time. But the bright side is…you can make the other one cry every time you face him/her ;D! Gotta love Game Freaks!

So that’s it! You’re good to go. A huge world awaits you, before you know it you’ll be fighting other pokémon trainers to become the very best, like no one ever has! But you WILL get to the first gym you know…and you’ll need our help then, worry not! Cheatmasters.com next guide is all about the Gym Leaders!! So stay tuned!! And GET THEM ALL!!

‘Till next time!
