Continuing our journey through Unova we will face many dangers, many trainers and most importantly, many Gym Leaders, but worry not! Cheatmasters.com is here to aid you in this quest! So flip your jackets to the side, grasp for your pokéballs and let’s battle!
FIRST GYM : TRIO BADGE
Here’s something new…usually when you choose your starter it’s important cause you know, the element of your pokémon will make your first gym battle easier or harder. Well forget about that, this time these three guys will be waiting for you and they’re one of each class, so it doesn’t matter which pokémon you picked as a starter, you will be at disadvantage here. My advice, look around into town, a woman will give you a free pokémon that will be of great help to fight against this gym.
Leader Cilan (if you chose Oshawott)
- Lv. 12 Lillipup
- Type: Normal
- Moves: Bite, Work Up, Odor Sleuth, Helping Hand
- Lv. 14 Pansage
- Type: Grass
- Moves: Vine Whip, Work Up, Lick, Fury Swipes
Leader Chili (if you chose Snivy)
- Lv. 12 Lillipup
- Type: Normal
- Moves: Bite, Work Up, Odor Sleuth, Helping Hand
- Lv. 14 Pansear
- Type: Fire
- Moves: Incinerate, Work Up, Lick, Fury Swipes
Leader Cress (if you chose Tepig)
- Lv. 12 Lillipup
- Type: Normal
- Moves: Bite, Work Up, Odor Sleuth, Helping Hand
- Lv. 14 Panpour
- Type: Water
- Moves: Water Gun, Work Up, Lick, Fury Swipes

Pick which monkey will be on your back!
Prize: 1680P, Trio Badge, TM83 – Work Up Every trainer has basically the same little dog and an elemental monkey, if you did what I told you to do, you’ll have an elemental monkey as well! So basically pummel the dog to dust with your starter (lvl 10 is enough, but you can do better than that) and when the trainer brings out his monkey, switch to your primate and beat the living hell out of him! It’s a relatively easy fight that will earn you your first medal! Way to go man!
SECOND GYM : BASIC BADGE
Leader Lenora
- Lv. 18 Herdier
- Type: Normal
- Moves: Take Down, Bite, Retaliate, Leer
- Lv. 20 Watchog
- Type: Normal
- Moves: Leer, Hypnosis, Retaliate, Crunch
Prize: 2400P, Basic Badge, TM67 – Retaliate

Creepy...just creepy.
This battle is harder than the one we had before, this gym leader has two well trained pokémons and you will feel their wrath. The Herdier will go first, you’ll have a hard time against it. It has the power of a Lillipup with a little bit more defense, it’s still weak to Fighting moves, but unless you picked a Tepig as your starter (which by the way I recommended) you’ll have basically no fighting pokémons. So Before even entering this battle I would recommend going down on the maps from the gym, and catch a Sawk or a Timburr, those are both Fighting type pokémons that will give this little pooch a hard time.
Ok, once you do that, or choose not too…prepare to face the real menace here…while the Herdier will lower your defenses and then use Takedown to mess you up, the real menace here it’s the lvl 20 Watchog. The move Retaliate will severely damage everything you put in front of him, and it powers up with each pokémon fallen before, so after you defeat his Herdier be ready to be pummeled with this move. Here’s when having a Tepig for a starter really pays off. One or two hits of any fighting move and this will be over. Have a couple of berries equipped to shake off the Hypnosis that Watchog will cast on you to mess you up even further! That’s it! You did it?? Then collect your medal and let’s move out!!
THIRD GYM: BUG BADGE
Leader Burgh
- Lv. 21 Whirlipede
- Type: Bug/Poison
- Moves: Poison Tail, Struggle Bug, Screech, Pursuit
- Lv. 21 Dwebble
- Type: Bug/Rock
- Moves: Smack Down, Struggle Bug, Faint Attack, Sand-Attack
- Lv. 23 Leavanny
- Type: Bug/Grass
- Moves: Razor Leaf, Struggle Bug, String Shot, Protect
Prize: 2880P, Beetle Badge, TM76 – Struggle Bug

She looks happy, but you won't be.
Yeah! 3 Pokémons! Things are getting serious over here…This guy has little to do with the bug catcher kids you used to face in earlier pokémon games, he means business! The whirlipede is pretty much useless. He will try to poison you via Poison tail but honestly, he kinda sucks, so Fyre-Fly hit him into oblivion. Dwebble is a little more complicated, being Bug-Rock it’s harder to put him down, but you still can Steel-Water blast him, in addition, Rock attacks will hurt him badly.
It’s final pokémon it’s the real deal, his Leavanny will Razor Leaf the crap out of you every chance he has. And it crits really really high, so watch out for it…However…It’s 6xWeak against Fire-Flying so, you can Air Cutter him with a Wobat or if you listened to me and got a Tepig as a starter melt him down with any fire move and it will be Good Game for you. Collect Your badge and let’s move.
FOURTH GYM: VOLT BADGE
Leader Elesa
- Lv. 25 Emolga
- Type: Electric/Flying
- Moves: Pursuit, Quick Attack, Volt Switch, Aerial Ace
- Lv. 25 Emolga
- Type: Electric/Flying
- Moves: Pursuit, Quick Attack, Volt Switch, Aerial Ace
- Lv. 27 Zebstrika
- Type: Electric
- Moves: Quick Attack, Flame Charge, Volt Switch, Spark
Prize: 3240P, Volt Badge, TM76 – Volt Switch

Here horsie horsie! here hors...OH MY GOOD WHY!!
Ok last gym for today, buckle up cause this battle will be as the town itself a roller coaster ride! Ok both Emolgas fly, so you can kiss your Ground Type moves goodbye…At least for now. They are still weak to Rock moves so you know, blast them! However they both have Volt Switch that’ll allow them to switch back and forth after every attack…boy is that annoying… Time your attacks well and they’ll go down.
Zebstrika is the real deal here, it can do Massive damage but retains classic electric type weakness. So one well timed Dig or any other strong Ground Type move will put him down like nobody’s business. That’s it collect your badge and you have 50% of them!!
Tune in Next week for the second and last part of the Gym Leaders Guide!! As well as a new guide to this wonderful game!!
