The Champion Mode in Fight Night Champion introduces something new to the Fight Night series, as you follow protagonist Andre Bishop in his search for glory and redemption. This guide (accompanied by two videos) will walk you through the beginning of Bishop’s foray into the professional middleweight ranks.

Your first sparring session is fairly simple despite the objective suggesting otherwise. That objective is to knock down your sparring partner in the first round. Difficult in principle, simple to execute.

Now although you only have a round, it’s best to take your time and pick your shots. Your opposition throws plenty of wild swings, so there are plenty of opportunities to counter. Land enough shots and the stoppage will eventually come.

After this spar and your trainer lambasting the villain of the game, D. L. McQueen, you’re ready for your first professional fight. Your opponent, Lucius Palmer, is a defensive-minded fighter and is rarely adventurous. However, if you prevent the opportunities to him, he’ll take them.

To minimize his success, work to the body in the first two minutes of each round. It’s much more difficult to counter shots that are thrown to the body and, for whatever reason, they’re more difficult to block. Use this to your advantage.

When he begins to attack in the last minute of each round, be more defensively cautious and counter when you can to the head. Work with these tactics over the rounds and hopefully you’ll grab the stoppage. But if not, just coast to a comfortable four round decision!
