As is true with all shooters, the guns just have to have mods. Its essential but where SOCOM differs is their desire to make all the weapons and mods feel and work as they do in real life. In this guide were gonna break down all the attachments you can have in SOCOM 4.
All the weapons have 5 “Mod Levels.” Imagine each Mod Level is like ranking up a gun. Each level unlocks a new attachment or upgrade for that particular weapon. You rank up each weapon by gaining XP in the game. There isn’t an exact XP figure to tell you how close you are in reaching the next Mod Level. Instead, there is a yellow bar above each weapon when configuring your loadout to give you a good idea of mod level progress. Every weapon starts out on Mod Level 0. Some weapons have Reflex Sights unlocked for Mod Level 0.
Only sight and firepoint attachments can be added or removed from a weapon. You can do this in the loadout screen when choosing a weapon. Firepoints attachments are suppressors and muzzle breaks.
ACOG Scope
The ACOG part stands for Advanced Combat Optic Gunsight Scope. This scope gives you significantly increased zoom over the Reflex Sight for better accuracy. It allows you to zoom in from third person aim to first person aim as well.
BiPod
The bipod is a two legged stand for your weapons. Using this while prone will pretty much eliminate recoil because the barrel will be stabilized.
Extra Ammunition
I’ll give you two guesses to see what this one does……eight you get extra ammunition.
Extended Magazines
You’re asking me, “Hey how is that any different than extra ammo.” Well extra ammo will keep you from running out of total ammo. This gives you more ammo per magazine meaning you’ll have to change the clip less often and not have that, I was shooting at him and ran out half way through, moment It is ideal for weapons with small magazines and high rates of fire, such as the DK7 or other Sub-Machine Guns.
Faster Reloading
Again kinda self explanatory, you’ll reload faster.
Foregrip
This little handle at the front of your weapon provides a extra position allowing for better stabilization when fired leading to improved accuracy.
Increased Rate of Fire
This means the amount of bullets coming out per second is increased. Meaning you fire more than the other guy. The catch is you will run out of ammo in the clip faster.
Muzzle Brake
Muzzle brakes are small devices on the end of a weapon’s muzzle. They help increase a weapon’s accuracy by lowering the recoil.
Reflex Sight
Reflex sights are optics mounted on the top of weapons. It appears as a red dot surrounded by a circle. It allows you to zoom in from third person aim to first person aim.
Replacement Ammunition
Replacement ammunition replaces your original rounds with specialty rounds which could either increase range or decrease sound. Increasing range allows rounds to keep their damage high at longer distance. Decreasing sound allows players to stay stealthy with quieter rounds.
Suppressors
Suppressors are devices that are installed at the end of a weapon’s muzzle. They decrease a weapon’s sound and muzzle flash. Suppressors come in two types, high and low. High suppressors are higher quality suppressors compared to Low suppressors
Underbarrel Launcher
Underbarrel Launchers is a pretty much a grenade launcher which is attached to the under side of a weapon’s barrel. They shoot 40MM grenades which explode on contact. Underbarrel Launchers are treated like gear. You must switch to them and use the same button as the gear button. You are only given 1 40MM Grenade per life.
Variable Scopes
Variable Scopes are specialty scopes which allows you to zoom in from third person aim to first person aim. They are presented in two versions, high and low. (Similar to the suppressors)
Low Variable Scopes allow you to zoom in from close to mid range.
High Variable Scopes allow you to zoom in from close, to mid, to far range.
