This guide will walk you through the ‘Escape the Dig Site’ level in Red Faction: Armageddon. Let’s get started!
You want to get away from Adam Hale’s giant Mantis Walker in a mine cart ride. You can have a weapon of your choice at the start of the mission. You will be up against the cultists so you will need a number of long range weapons like the Nano Rifle, Rocket Launcher, Assault Rifle, and of course, the Magnet Gun. You are free to shoot as you please for the mine cart ride because of your unlimited ammo.
All your weapons are ineffective against the Mantis Walker. Do not shoot it head on but aim on the sparking generators on the roof or on the ground. You can slow it down by aiming at the generators as it passes by. The Walker will try to catch up with your cart so you have to put your attention to it. Soon, your cart will move towards a closing door.
Your immediate goal now is to get away from the dig site. Cultists will try to take you out as you move into a large chamber. The Mantis Walker will surprise you in the large doors as your cart turns right. Shoot at the generators to slow it down again. Your cart will then enter an elevator that will slowly rise up. Cultists will be waiting at you at the balconies surrounding the path of the elevator. Shoot at them as you move up. As you get closer to the top, lights will shut down and cultists will shoot at you as the elevator drops further down. It will be reactivated and move up again.
The elevator doors will not open. The Repair Grenade can be utilized at the locations marked in the HUD. From their vantage point, cultists will fire at you as you come out towards the cavern. As you get near them, the Mantis Walker will come out to disturb you all over again. The enemy will use the wall to run after you as you the traverse the tracks above the bottomless pit. At the dead end, you have no choice but to turn around. The Mantis Walker will stop to charge its devastating beam. Luckily, a generator hangs over the culprit.
Make the generator fall over the Mantis Walker using an explosive weapon. The cart will be lost along the pathway and beware of the Walker’s return. As you move towards a slope, shoot at the generators until a cutscene is activated.
In a large hall, Adam Hale will run after you with the wounded Mantis Walker. As you look above, you can see a power station marked in the HUD. The Mantis Walker will try to crawl beneath the station. Shoot the latter at once to fall down on the former. Right behind you, the shield will drop so run to the next shield. The Mantis Walker will crawl at it so drop it at the culprit. While waiting, shoot it with anything destructive. Beware of the energy blasts and dodge to escape it. Run back to the third power station after you are done with the second. Finish the mission by dropping it on Hale.
