You guys were waiting for this right? Yeah, so was I! But it’s finally here, and I’m going to review the heck out of it! So Jump In and save the holy triforce!

Return to Top GRAPHICS & SOUND

Oh well… this is a tricky point, I mean yes the game looks awesome, it’s been practically re-made on top of the N64 version, smoothing the graphics and what not. The thing is…even with all that extra work…is it a title specially crafted for the 3DS, no, hell no.

We love the graphic style because it reminds us of the original one and that’s really something. I was playing at a friend’s house and the friend of his brother came along…he watched silently while I played for a while and finally stated “Mehhh I like my PS2 better”. My first thought was “I’m gonna beat the living hell out of him for saying such nonsense!” But then I realized, yeah, he’s right, the graphics aren’t nearly as impressive as many other titles for the 3DS itself. But if you’re playing this game, you’re doing it for something other than just graphics.  The sound on the other hand does sound better and listening to that ocarina gently weeping will make you shiver, it really will…if you played the original game in the 64 you can’t afford to let this one go unchecked, it’s the same game yes, but it feels really different.

Return to Top STORY

Oh man, do I have to explain it? I guess I should, after all some of our readers aren’t as old as we are, well listen closely younglings!

Ocarina of time is one of the greatest games ever made, that should be convincing enough coming from someone that hated Nintendo since day 1. My hate-love relationship with Nintendo is a topic for another day, the thing is, no matter how much I hated the company back then, this game I could not resist. The simple tale of a boy chosen to save the world becomes one of the greatest journeys of your life as a gamer. Mystery, a princess that needs to be rescued, the young kid becoming a man, this is a masterpiece pulled out of the simplest story ever written and it’s simply awesome.

I had to take a picture of my console playing it, I could not believe my eyes!

Return to Top GAMEPLAY

Here are some of the novelties when it comes to the platform itself, the 3DS gyroscope allows the players to move the console instead of the analog nub in order to look around. This applies to the slingshot as well and it’s a real treat when you’re riding your horse. The basic gameplay of the game still applies and since it’s not broken then it should not be fixed. Good for Nintendo, nice call.  Another nice addition that really puts some extra value on the title is the Master Quest mode, that takes us in the same game again with increased difficulty, tougher enemies and a mirrored dungeon mechanic that while it may appear as a lame thing to do, really makes things more interesting. Challenge your memory, your thumbs and your wits with this game!

Return to Top OVERALL SCORE:

9.5 (Excellent) It really is, I hoped for a cinematic re-do or something like that but well, the game is still one of the best in the genre.

‘Till the next one
