3DS Price Drop
Plus free games for current owners
Due to disappointing sales and Nintendo’s profit forecast they decided to slash the price of the 3DS. Prices will drop between 32% in the U.S., 40 % in Japan and 29% in Australia. The sale price will begin August 12th according to Nintendo and the trade price of the 3DS will drop to around a third of what it had been.
For those who already own a 3DS Nintendo is offering 20 free downloadable games as a way of compensating for the unit’s price drop. No date yet is given when this program will begin but we do know the free games will be available as part of the “Nintendo 3DS Ambassador” program through the Nintendo eShop. Nintendo reports that more details on this program exclusively for current 3DS owners will be released at a later date.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2012
Improved AI and more
Yesterday Konami announced that Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 would be released for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on September 27th. They intend to announce release dates for the Wii PS2 and PSP versions later.
The game will focus on teamwork and instinctive game play. The AI engine got itself a major overhaul which allows defenders to hold tighter lines and attacking players to make more intelligent runs. Konami also reports better detail and lighting, plus a wider variety of player styles and tactics, and a new pass feature that is customizable.
Vita Launching this Fall
Or so the rumor goes
Recently there was a press release from 505 Games which pointed toward a fall release date for MMA: Supremacy on the PS Vita. During E3 this year, Sony announced that the Vita would most likely launch at the end of this year. While we still have no solid launch information from Sony regarding the Vita, it would seem likely that, given 505 Games’ press release, we may see the Vita on our store shelves this fall.
Its possible that 505 Games is just speculating that the Vita will be available at the time their fighting game is released for the system. It does tend to leave us believing a fall release for the Vita is a strong possibility, but without Sony’s official word I’m afraid we still have to consider this one a rumor rather then fact.
Resistance 3 beta
Begins this week
The Resistance 3 multiplayer beta is scheduled to begin on August 4th. Those who purchased one of the specially marked versions of SOCOM 4 earlier this year will be able to download the beta client by redeeming their code at the PlayStation Store. PlayStation Plus members will be able to begin participating in the beta August 23rd.
The beta will contain two maps and two modes and you will be able to upgrade your weapons, unlock multiplayer skins and customize loadouts. Leveling up will be limited to the first 20 levels however. So grab your code from SOCOM 4, download the client and have some fun!
