Oh no. You happened to be playing a good game of NHL 11, the best online hockey game in the world, and it turns out the referee didn’t like the diving poke-check you made on the breakaway. Now, it’s penalty shot time. Don’t panic. You can successfully stop that penalty shot with some points we will share here.
Doing a diving poke-check right before your attacker shoots is usually the spot which is done more often compared to the diving poke-check done before the blue-line. If you trip your opponent two minutes before the sin bin, it won’t count as a breakaway. A good thing about penalties is that there is usually a slow motion replay of the move which you maybe weren’t able to see in the heat of the moment. You should be able to compose yourself, observe the replay very closely and see which side of the net your opponent is dekeing to.
Ninety percent of the people you compete against online will surely attempt a penalty shot with the exact same deke as the initial breakaway. This is because this is the one that they are already very well practiced at, the one which they know works for them. And so, you should stick your goalie towards the side of the net your opponent shoots at during the breakaway. This way, you will see their hopes shattered when their tried and tested move gets gobbled up by your glove and they miss their penalty shot.
