Borderlands was a fantastic game developed by Gearbox Software, and published by 2K Games. The graphic style was artistic and cool. There was plenty of loot, and virtually infinite guns that you could come across during your journey on Pandora. If you hadn’t played this game, you’d have been definitely missing out.
Well, guess what?! Gearbox is back, with the sequel to Borderlands called Borderlands 2. And it’s going to be even better than the first.
The first change you’ll notice is the four brand-new playable characters. The only one revealed so far was Salvador, the Gunzerker. Don’t worry, you’re still on Pandora, but you’ll be exploring completely different parts of this planet. In fact, the protagonists from the first game will make a comeback in this installment, but only as NPCs.
In Borderlands 2, the missions will be dynamic. They will fit to your skill level to provide the optimal difficulty and experience. Not to mention, the enemy AI will be highly enhanced. Enemies will be stronger and much more intelligence.
The epic and genius co-op is back, and the menus have been changed for easier view in split-screen. The co-op still only supports up to four players online and two players in split-screen. But there’s been many tweaks to amp up the experience and make it smoother. Also it will be a more seamless experience for players of different levels and from different game progress.
The guns from the original Borderlands have been completely tossed out, and a completely new arsenal with be put in the sequel, which is an immeasurable arsenal.
There are 8 gun manufacturers revealed so far. There will be a “Bandit” gun manufacturer. They will be crudely made guns, but will have high firepower. They are literally made by bandits. There will be the “Dahl” gun manufacturer, which will have a realistic military-grade feel. Another manufacturer is “Hyperion”. They will have a distinct style due to the close resemblance to Claptraps. The “Vladof” gun manufacturer will make an appearance. Their weapons will have an uncanny resemblance to the AK-47. The “Tediore” gun manufacturer will be cool. You can shoot it, but when you’re done, you can throw it, and it’ll explode. The more ammo you have in the clip, the bigger and more powerful the explosion will be. The “Torgue” gun manufacturer will have the most destruction and mass devastation. The “Maliwan” manufacturer will feel very futuristic. Finally, the “Jakobs” gun manufacturer will have some of the highest damage stats.
There will be a new element in the game called Eridium. It will be used to upgrade your weapons within the game. This can make them more powerful, and even change your gun visually.
The Borderlands 2 storyline starts off 5 years after its predecessor. If you’ve played the Armory of General Knoxx DLC on the original, you know you’ve made an assault on and have crippled Atlus. That gun manufacturer will be no more.
Borderlands 2 is expected for release sometime in 2012.
So, there you go! That’s what to expect from Borderlands 2.
