By now, you’d know that Kairosoft is a very unique and successful mobile game developer that makes their own brand of gameplay through simulating different things that require careful management and strategic decisions. Some people may not see this as fun, but they then play and have a good time with it. That has been the case with most of Kairosoft’s games, and it’s no different with the new Grand Prix Story.

If you’re looking for a fast-paced game, then you’re looking at the wrong one since this is more for those who like to think about what they’re doing. This is a management game, so most of what you have to think about is stuff like leveling up your mechanics and making sure that everything is in place before every race. You get to be the manager who pesters the racing drivers about various things to make sure that they win.

Just like with most of Kairosoft’s titles, they’re solid management games that tackle rather unusual subjects. While Game Dev Story was praised for being meta, almost like the video game industry breaking the fourth wall. The subsequent titles though derived from common themes in Japanese culture like hot springs and school, since Kairosoft is a Japanese company.

Racing is quite a stretch though, even though the Japanese like racing cars. Car companies like Nissan and Mitsubishi are famous for their cars like the Evolution and the GTR, which have been tuned for racing. There are also racing circuits all over the country, some even being famous for their uniqueness like the D-1, the premiere drifting competition in the world. So when Kairosoft came out with this game, it looked quite a treat since it’s something not a lot of other companies have thought of before.

This game has so many different elements in mechanics that it’s hard to get bored with it. That also makes this game very addictive, which is great for a mobile game since you’ll look for opportunities to take out your iPhone and play this game. Having honed the formula for a great simulation game, Kairosoft has done wonders with its titles, making them better with each subsequent release.

Another thing is that this is not a racing game. You just manage race cars and drivers in this game to compete with other racing teams. Don’t think of yourself as Sebastian Vettel or Lewis Hamilton in this case, but see yourself as Bernie Eccleston or even Enzo Ferrari. You own a racing team, so you have to recruit the best drivers, hire the best mechanics, get the best car parts, and stay solvent as you compete for the championship in every grand prix circuit. That is not easy at all, but it’s a whole lot of fun.

This is another brilliant effort by Kairosoft for the iOS. Their games have become the step to the future for mobile games all around the world, which makes the game development industry quite a great place to be in right now. Grand Prix Story has uniqueness and great gameplay that will get you hooked for quite a long time, so it’s definitely worth the money.
