The months leading up to Christmas are usually a mess, with a ton of upcoming games out there just waiting to be picked up by the masses. With all those games though, it must be hard to figure out exactly what game you should pick up for yourself or kid, so check out our Top 10 list of upcoming games below.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception
In this third installment of the Uncharted series, Nathan Drake is back at it again, searching for an ancient 16th century treasure. Of course, Drake can’t just find treasure, he has to find trouble a long the way and that is no different with Drake’s Deception. A jam packed single player experience, competitive multiplayer, online coop, and some of the best visuals ever seen on a console make this a game you will not want to miss.
Another popular series that is receiving its third installment, Battlefield 3 is a deep online shooter full of tanks, planes, infantry, and some of the most fun you will find online in a shooter. With a deep level of unlockables, multiple classes, highly detailed maps, and we haven’t even talked about the single player campaign or coop campaign. This is one you and your friends will want to pick up.
Batman: Arkham City
Arkham Asylum was a super hero game that took the industry by storm when it released back in 2009 and Rocksteady is now preparing the sequel, Arkham City. Batman will have his hands full this time around as the cast of villains includes the Riddler, Joker, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, the Penguin, and more. Thankfully Batman will have all of his gadgets at his disposal and that stealth ability we have all come to love with this caped-crusader.
Dark Souls is the sequel to the critically acclaimed game, Demon’s Souls, from developer From Software. If you ever wanted a game that kicked your teeth in with unwavering difficulty and laughed at you while doing it, then you have to check out Dark Souls. Punishing enemies and a deep, rewarding combat system have this in place to do just as good as the original.
GoldenEye 007: Reloaded
Many of you might remember playing a little game called GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64, a game that took up plenty of this writers youth. Thankfully, Activision has heard my cries and GoldenEye 007: Reloaded will be releasing later this year, jam packed with all the goodies of the original game, like four-player split-screen and now 16-player online. If you never got a chance to pick up one of the best shooters of all time, then this is your chance, just watch out for people selecting Oddjob, he is a cheater!
A good Sonic game has been a bit of a hard find as of late, with a lot of the recent games falling on their face. However, Sonic Generations looks like it will be one of those much desired, good Sonic games. With a blend of both 2D and 3D sonic, and highly detailed and extremely fun levels, you will be blasting your way through coins and enemies on your way to one fun experience.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Skyrim is the fifth installment in the Elder Scrolls series and might just prove to be one of the best. The game takes place two hundred years after the first and will be sure to provide players with an incredibly gigantic world, full of cities, dungeons, and plenty of quests for you to complete. The name of the game in Skyrim is character development, as you will be able to select one of many races and their skill set. With this emphasis on character growth and the amount of content on disc, don’t plan on beating this very quickly.
Assassin’s Creed: Revelations
The Assassin’s Creed series is beginning to resemble the Madden franchise, with a new title coming out almost yearly. That would be a bad thing if each game didn’t do an amazing job of continuing the story of the Assassin and Templar war that has waged on for ages. The stealth gameplay is as good as ever in Revelations and the added multiplayer provides one of the most unique online experiences to date on consoles.
Saints Row: The Third
Any game that can take the fun, sandbox elements of a Grand Theft Auto and then add in a purple dildo for a weapon is sure to make you stand up and take notice. That is exactly what Saints Row: The Third does, combing solid gameplay mechanics and quests with insanely wacky weapons and people, giving players one unique and crazy experience that also has the depth in it to attract those hardcore players.
One part shooter and the other racer, Rage is a post-apocalyptic world created by the masterminds at id Software. The game resembles something out of a Mad Max movie, with humanity holding on by a thin thread. With a First Person Shooter at its core, elements of racing, and some RPG sprinkled in, Rage is a game that Fallout fans should come to love and those looking for a huge world to explore.
Do you agree? A game you think should have made the list or one of these that should be removed? Let us know your thoughts in the comments or no one will every know any better.
